So this is a pretty long story that starts over a year ago. I got an aftermarket viper alarm installed and the shop attempted to do the remote start. The shop got the alarm in and when it came to the remote start, the keys dropped the programming and he hotwired my car and took it to the dealership to get reprogrammed. I was angry about that but as long as my car was working normally.

So a few months ago I found an installer that actually has done a remote start on one of these cars before. He gets the install done but than tells me, the car is not starting for the key. I figured it would just be another programming of the keys and I would have my car back.

I see talked to the tech at the dealer that has had my car and tells me that programming the keys did not work and the way the wiring harness looks, they wanted to replace the entire main harness and EFI harness (total of 1500$ in parts + 10 hrs of labor).

So I called up a friend who is a mechanic and owns a shop and he tells me to tow the car to his shop. Called up AAA, they came out and refused to tow my car because my suspension is modified. I called All-state and they came and towed my car to them for free.

So the mechanic removes the alarm and remote start, rebuilds the harness, and has someone come out to program the keys and still nothing. It has been a week and a half and I am pretty worried so I called the original installer that installed the alarm and failed at the remote start and asked me to give him the mechanics phone number. I gave it to him

So my mechanic told me he spoke to this installer and the installer told him that he had shorted out my fuse box, and hooked up a relay that basically hotwired my car every time. We got the fuse box replaced and you could tell that the old fuse box was messed up and that he even opened it and glued it shut. So my car is at the dealership right now because everything needed new programming and I can pick it up tomorrow morning. Because the mechanic is a friend of mine I am not out too much money only 300$. 150$ for the fuse box and 150$ for labor (he didnt charge me for rebuilding the harness).

So wish me luck in the lawsuit I will be filing against this shop (although I think they are going out of business)

oh yea btw, if anyone wants to buya viper 791xv and the remote start bypass, shoot me an email, I'll let it go real cheap.

yea I wish I could have just told the dealership to bill this shop but this install they did was over a year ago and I'm sure they would deny everything. I don't even know why they told my mechanic what they did. All I can come up with is that they don't care because they are going out of business and have no assets so I won't be able to collect anything anyway. Can't be too mad I also got a 280$ speeding ticket dismissed a few days ago...kind of evens itself out in a way.
