Well after many starts and stops, changing direction on it a couple times, I finally have my Vert in running order. She's still a ways from being finished, but street legal and running is happiness.

A couple of quick questions to throw out. The Walbro fuel pump whines a lot. Can hear it up to about 55mph. It's also rather obnoxious. Is this normal, or did I perhaps get a bad one? Is there anything to be done to dampen this? Next issue, the struts and RSR springs make the car WAY too stiff for the poorly paved roads of South Carolina. Any thoughts as to struts that would be worth going to for the Vert?
Thanks in advance.

Couple pictures as she is at the moment, and a quick list of things done...

What struts are you using? Adjustable ones should be able to help.

Never seen a Walbro that whined that loud. I can't hear mine over the exhaust at all.

I would hard wire the fuel pump to a 40 amp relay and a bigger gauge wire. I did that to my co-workers car and it quieted a little. This also prevents from leaning out because your fuel pump will get full voltage. When we tested his, it was getting something like 11 volts, then afterward it was getting 13 volts.

I will give it a try with the 40 amp relay. I had not thought about trying that.

The car currently has adjustable struts and they are on the softest setting and it's still beating me up as I go down the road. Was kind of thinking plain jane Tokico blues.

Any other thoughts or suggestions? Has anyone bought the PDM front lip for the stock bumper cover? Just wondering how hard it is to attach.

I had gr2 with megan springs and those were ok, just a tad bouncy but wasnt harsh. I would imagine the lip would be easy. Just drill holes and put some nuts, bolts and washers

If you already have AGX adj shocks on soft you aren't going to get any other softer ones. If RSR (or other springs) are too stiff for you the only option is going back to stock.

Definitely don't want to go back to stock. Feels like there is no dampening at all coming from the car. Hitting potholes is bonejarring. I have had several other 240's, all with suspension work of one kind of another... and never had this experience. Was wondering if springs issue or perhaps the struts. I have had rollovers, and springs and struts, but never adjustable struts.

Sure they are set on the softest settings and not hardest?

Or if they are so soft that they are allowing it to bottom out, maybe try stiffening them up a little.

Hey USC, I haven't seen you on the vert forum for some time, but I only been lurking lately. My Walbro makes noise, but I am SR's and running a Flowmaster 20 mounted below the drivers seat area and then a straight pipe the rest of the way back. I have D2 racing coilovers. They have adjustable perches (keeps proper spring load) and a set of Godspeed swaybars (front and rear). My car rides firm, but by no means harsh. I have them set in the middle (adjusting the rears is a pain in the *ss because of the clearance at the braces), rebound is solid - not bouncy. The car settles nicely. Good luck and good to see some of the old crew on here.

GoinTopless,

Thanks, it's good to be remembered. I have been around and also mostly lurking over the last couple years, as life gets in the way of project cars and such. I'm glad to finally be back on it and now able to drive her.

The Walbro is making less noise now that I have filled the tank a couple times and swapped to the 40A relay.

I also posted up in the Nissan Mechanic, and now in the vert forum, but I'm having a front end shake between about 58 and 67MPH. Damned if I know what it is. Already swapped wheels and tires out. Just another something to think about and play with over the winter I hope.
