At idle you mess with the AFR's quite a bit without worrying about doing any real damage. Actually, if you don't pull enough fuel you'll do more damage then not having enough. Since you'll wash fuel from cylider walls and contaminate the oil. This will lead to serious issues down the road, like spun brearings and rod knock.
If you remove to much fuel it won't idle, it'll stall out and or run like crap. So you can play around with the lower settings say 800-1000 rpm by adding and or removing fuel to see if the idle quality changes,
The decel air settings are for running an open BOV. I suggest not doing that at all since there are simply so many problems with that method. Plumb the BOV back to return and leave it.
There is a setting for when the car is cold and warm though. It's been a long time since I touched a SAFC, so I can't remember what they are or what to set them to. Do a quick search for SAFC idle settings, I'm sure it'll turn up.

This is incorrect, the car will start and run great with AFR's in the 10:1 range.
