YES! finally some progress (i think).

remember when I tried the other ecu and kept getting the CAS code? well i switched CAS's and ecus and now i have code 55!!!! it is no longer running in fail safe mode, however it does not idle as nicely as it did before and the exhaust smells like the motor is running very rich. in the upper rpms it sounds great though and runs damn smooth. i have yet to put a timing light on it, but the CAS is set totally advanced. ive tried advancing/retarding trying to find a smoother idle, but it doesnt really change that much. do i need to adjust the CAS again? I'm going over to a friends house to borrow his timing light, but until then, does anyone have any input or tips to try and smooth out the idle or maybe i need to adjust the a/f ratio?? also, i dont think the o2 sensor wires were lengthened with shielded wire. maybe that has something to do with it? I'm going to look into that later..

I would center you cas or even slightly retard it until you get a light on it. These motors do NOT like any more timing than they are given stock. Dont roll the dice.

got the timing set at the 15* mark. still kind of lumpy idle. kind of poppy like theres unburned gas in the exhaust and doesnt rev smoothly until around 3k. i cant actually drive it yet because i need to get a slave cylinder and bleed the clutch. cant wait to try out the spec stage 4.

anyways, gonna pull the plugs and check em out tomorrow. i'll check for vac. leaks, but the boost gauge read steady 20 under vac. also need to find out why my tach and temp gauge quit on me. id like to fix the tach so i can adjust the idle if need be. blah blah blah. goodnight.

keep in mind that you can have leaks in your ic piping and still read good vacuum. This is because you are reading vacuum after the TB. So while the good vacuum reading is good and tells you that all you vacuum lines are good you still don't know if a pesky ic piping coupler behind your stupid bumper is leaking leading to many frustrating hours or trouble shouting until your friend comes over and goes uh... is that supposed to have a rip in it... The you just want to grenade the whole.... oh geez sorry. I had a bad experience with that. Just check you couplers again.
