Me and my wife finally took the plunge this Monday and signed the papers on our new house. We've been living in a town home since we moved to Kentucky 3 years ago and it was starting to get a little cramped since we just had a baby too. We ran across this 3 bedroom 2 bath house a little over a month ago after looking at loads of other houses but we had already picked this one out the first time we saw it. Overall everything is in great shape, we're just painting and i'm refinishing all the cabinets in the kitchen and doing a few updates.

The best thing of course is I finally have a 2 car garage so I can do some much needed work to the I30 and i'm looking to buy something 4x4 for the winter here and occasional offroading or possibly a 240 or a Z to play around with.

Anyways on to the pics(well pic for now, more pictures will come soon though)

Thanks guys!

It was 135k, a fairly good deal for the location and condition. There was very little to be done aside from paint the bedrooms(mainly because the colors were hideous and poorly done) and a few upgrades. I was sold on the sprinkler/built in power washer in the front yard as well

Sounds like a good deal, I was wondering about pricing because my sister may be moving to the area. Looks kind of like her neighborhood in KC and price seems similar.1,400 Sq ft or close? 2 car garage comes in handy especially with kids, toys bikes ect. wish I had a 2 car.

Congrats on the home and the new addition to the family also.

Yeah, best advice when shopping for a house here is buy a little out from the city. If you buy in the city you'll pay 15-30k more for a house than outside of the city. It's nice here though overall, there's very few areas I would stay away from. It's definitely much nicer here than in GA where I grew up and better home prices too in most cases. Our house is about 15-20min outside of the city here and about the same for us to get to work, in GA you would have a 45min-1hr drive minimum commute.

It's 1398 sq ft so might as well call it 1400. The garage is a big plus, the only toys that go in the garage are the cars though, the kids stuff will have it's own place

Wow, $135K. I am sad to live in NJ.A house like that in Northern NJ would go for $600k or so.

Live the dream my man! Congratulations!

When are you throwing your first NICO party?

Finally took some better pics of the house and pics of some of the projects done so far on the house(mainly the kitchen)>

Nothing special outside other than cleanup and trimming back hedges and ect

Living room really didn't need anything other than our stuff put in it:
Image

The Kitchen: All cabinet facings refinished in a creme color, walls painted dark brown to cover up the hideous highlighter yellow that was there when we got it, new high def. laminate counter tops, new dishwasher, and new acrylic sink with black/bronze fixtures. Still working on the cabinet doors unfortunately
Image

Image

The Office: Walls painted Motor City Blue, new IKEA furniture(Desk, shelf over desk, and wall cabinet), custom lighting in wall cabinet and under desk. Still planning on adding a few more things(like another wall cabinet and a couple more framed posters) but this is it for now.

That's all for now, next on the list is to finish the cabinet doors, do a small overhaul on the guest bathroom, and pressure wash and stain the back deck :dblthumb:

Thanks for the comments guys, i'm quite pleased with how it's been coming along even though it's been a little slow. I've really been enjoying the home improvement stuff more than I thought I would

I got it at IKEA for $120 if I remember right, the the lights were like $5 a piece. It's been the nicest cabinet i've been able to find and much cheaper than most i've looked at. They had them in black, natural wood(like mine), and white.
