I know I don"t post a whole lot but I am real happy to say that I finally beat the 16s in the 1/4 mile, and thought I would share this. Been working on my technique the past few times and it's paying off! I have to say that other then a STS and TB kit my car is COMPLETELY STOCK, down to the tires. ok, enough said, heres my best time;
60ft: 2.386
330 ft:6.7053
1/8 ET: 10.235
1/8 MPH: 69.95
1000' ET: 10.289
1000' MPH: 79.66
1/4 ET:15.8831
1/4 MPH: 87.04

This was my second to last run, my last run was even faster, but missed 3rd gear and lost the round (bracket racing). Everyone said right after I took off I had it, even the announcer. but because I screwed up everyone was saying WFT? something wrong happened.

so for kicks i'll post that as well.

60ft: 2.314
330ft: 6.526
1/8 ET:10.206
1/8 MPH:67.77
1000' ft:13.31
1000' MPH:78.79
1/4 ET: 15.92
1/4 MPH:86.23

It was slower, but thats because i screwed up. if you look at the 60 ft/ 330ft you will see how much faster I was going. I would've been low 15.8s or even high 15.7s. oh well.

so what do you guys think?

UPDATE: Thought I would forget?
So I finally got to go back to the track, my home track canceled due to difficulties and I said F-it! So I found another track that was having races today and went? The drive was a pain in the a** cuz it was long but well worth it from my results. Every time I went down the track I cut my times down even more then the original post. Made 5 runs, And here is my last and best :woot: ; Showing ppl the 2.5 aint that slow :slap: lol

60': 2.253
330': 6.477
1/8 time: 9.966
1/8 MPH:71.84
1000': 13.018
1/4 time: 15.598
1/4 MPH: 88.3
I have not done anything new with the car

You can do better than that (based on what I ran back a year ago). Last time I hit the track, I hit an unofficial 14.899 (don't have the slip to prove it) on my sedan. Weather was a perfect 70 degrees and I was running open headers that day. Mods include stillen headers, intake, pulley, exhaust taken off,on lowered springs, falken azenis tires(great for grip),and took off back seats and spare tire

Maybe I put this wrong. what I mean is this is the fastest a STOCK car has gone, not one engine mod or HP bolt-on. I know a 2.5 can go faster with mods. but I have not found or seen a stock 2.5 run faster then a 16. If I had those mods I would be going a lot faster!! thats a good time though even if it isn't official :naughty: ! also, did not unbolt the exhaust or strip the car, drove it there with a friend, and drove back.

Thanks, this is a very fast time for a stock 4cyl. no one at the track has seen one run this fast and people were paying attention to my times, people told me fastest stock they've seen there was around a 16.1. I will tell bout my mods as I do them (budget based). I have the feeling if i just put better tires on id knock off a good amount of time. stock tires are horrible for DR. I'm just trying to not burn out on my launches. side story; had a show, some hondas tried doing a burn out on the way out, the guys were telling me to do one so I smoked 1st and most of second (not holding P-brake). lol, i just laughed while they inhailed some burnt rubber :naughty:

Thanks, I'm very happy. going under 16 has been a pain and torture with getting close but not quite. I decided to try something out and it's working out well. i know with some pratice i could knock off a little more as-is. both times I've gone I scored a sweet trophy and some respect. also almost did a perfect tree, best one in the heat and got priority for my race as a result. I'm slowly tweeking it

Try it in a cold day if possible. It will inprove your time drastically. One time I hit the track on a 105 degree weather with the same mods but my time sucked really bad. One run was at low 17 (because I missed second gear) and the other was at 15.7

Yes, that is true. But he also unbolted the exhaust, it is a realistic time as well. However, there is a big difference between us. He has about 100hp more at the wheels. My statement is FOR the 2.5! You can't compare the 2 cars. Fact is stats for a car like mine say I shouldn't run faster then a 16.4 with my current setup(4 up/weight). Going sub 16 with basically a car off the lot has never been done as far as I can tell. Closest was just over 16 sec. Look it up and see how a car like mine has actually gone, not what ppl claim it can!

here is what i did 3 years ago with a short ram, and a cat back. car is a 3.5 6 Speed sedan. i havent gone back since, but im sure it would pull better times now. i also have 99k miles on it now, so the VQ should be well broken in.

heres the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCcS7j7rTug

^^thanks. that was back three years ago. hussain had a better time than my car, but he was also running open exhaust from the y-pipe, so he had a little more acceleration than my car did, but he wouldnt be able to match my trap speed in the 1/4 with the CVT. i wish i couldve unbolted my exhaust, i would've definitely hit sub 13 seconds.

ill hit the track again soon though.

I've never tried to. But how in the heck do you smoke both first and second gear in a 2.5? I have one and it putts along fine but couldn't imagine smoking tires. Mines a cvt automatic btw.

The CVT is why it would be hard for you. I have the 6spd. as for how i can do that? My car is special :naughty: , in other words It has an abnormal amount of torque for some reason. I want to edit though, I smoked all of 1st and MOST of second. i don't mean to brag but I've done numerous burnouts with it, some small. but some were heard from inside my dorm when doing it at the end of the parking lot. there was a clowd of smoke probably 10ft high and about 15-20ft long, I'm surprised my tires have lasted this long, but then again I rotate them every 3-4k miles because of my racing and driving habits :gotme .

Anyone run a 3.5 Coupe CVT? I'm thinking it's lighter than a sedan and should be just a bit quicker, even with the CVT...

I'd run mine, but I'm still in the break-in period and don't want to hurt it, although if I was Jay Leno, i'd do like a mile and half break-in then do burnouts in it, but i'd also have like 100 other cars to break too....

Hussain has a 3.5 CVT and did it in just under 14s after unbolting his exhaust, think he did low 14s with a catback not sure of any other mods. I dont think there is a huge weight difference from the sedan if I remember. How many miles do you have on it?

Hardly.

So if you race someone you only go to 60 and then stop :wavey: ???

With those 1/4 mile times my 0-60 was +-7.0 second est. I've self timed lower but thats never truly accurate.
Saying and doing are completely different, people say their car has to be :gotme quick cuz they beat someone, that's :bs: .

Does anyone have times on a 3.5? I regularly do 0-60 in under 6. Never formally clocked it.

I timed a 0-60 run yesterday with the ScanGuage, it was a poor start with traction control on and in drive Sport mode, it did a 6.6 0-60 run. I feel that with a better start and run it to the redline in Manual mode and no traction control, I could get a sub 6 0-60 in the car...
