Just dynoed my car with the 550cc inyectors, 300zx MAF and t3/t4e turbo @ 14.5PSI and dialed in @ 338WHP & 310ft-lbs. I'm a happy camper. The curve looks like crap after 4k rpm because I'm running into issues with my spark (most probably cause) so anything above 10PSI causes my car to hesitate severely above 4krpm. Fuel is not an issue since we are dialing it at 12-12.5 across the board and the SAFC is setup at only -20% at the highest, so I still have fuel to go. Just need to fix the spark issues so I can fix the curve and reach my goal of 350WHP... although the dyno guy said that 400WHP with 17-18PSI of boost and no spark issues is quite attainable in my car. I'll try to post the dyno graph later, but for now I'm looking at recommendations for my spark issues.

I currently have stock wires (I believe this to be the culprit but the Nology wires are one their way). Also have a Nology ProFire Coil and Silverstone plugs which the car seems to like gapped at 0.035" cause the hesitation get's worst @ 0.040 and 0.030. I've tried moving the spark base timing from 20 BTDC to 10BTDC and the car seems to behave better at 15 BTDC.

Anybody running next to stock spark on high boost (above 12PSI) apps? Any recommendations from the gurus? I was told to get and MSD... I'm trying to avoid that but if need be I'll just have to fork out some more dough... which is really difficult right know since some guy ran a STOP sign and by avoiding him I crashed into a over pass.. so the money is going elsewhere.

All replies are appreciated.

338WHP at 14.5 psi....... woah. Thats some nice number.

Just wondering what heat range are you using for your plugs? Also, are you running 14.5 psi on stock bottom end (im guessing not)? do you have anything to control the timing besides the base timing?

Oh and thats about 398 (assuming 15% drive train loss) at the crank. Thats very very impressive

yeah what are you doing for timing? WD says to advance the timing(or retard? not sure) per psi after 8psi.

Really nice numbers. That is what I'm aiming for, and if you dont mind me asking how did you get it to run? I am having rich running issues.

I don't think you need to upgrade to the MSD quite yet. I'd get a good set of 8.5 or 9mm wires and close the gap.

What plugs are you using. I'd suggest anything Iridium. But my newest promotional item is the new AutoLite Iridium. The guys at Summit Racing talked me into those.

I've run my gap down to .028 on high boost with no need for any spark enhancement.

Watch the timing advance though, that'll pop a motor quick.

Great numbers and it's good to see you back on the boards.

When I say watch the timing advance, I mean watch out how much the NA map advances the timing. Anything over 8psi or so requires some retard unless your running high octane fuel.

I'm using Nology Silverstone plugs... from what I understand they are multi heat range (dunno about that) so they are like 5-9. It does not make sense to me but that is what I came to conclude since I could only find 1 part number for the Nissan plug and they say 5-9 on the web page... which is having issues now.

If you are running the 300zx MAF make sure to SEPARATE the grounds. Most diagrams I've seen, including JWT's, have both grounds tied together to the 240sx ECU ground... that made my car very rich until I installed the 550cc inyectors then it was undriveable. I separated the grounds and wired the black wire on the MAF to the chassis and problem solved.

Hopefully the Nology wires will solve my issues.

Quote »I've run my gap down to .028 on high boost with no need for any spark enhancement.
I gapped my down to .030 (although I was using a very crappy calibrator) and the popping got even worst. I'll gapped them down to .025 if need be once I get the wires.

Quote »Watch the timing advance though, that'll pop a motor quick.
Yep, I know about the NA ECU timing numbers. I've retarded timing to 15BTDC cause @ 10BTDC HP goes really really down If it comes to buying the MSD I'll just get one with the BTM.

Id def try new plugs and wires... the multi range kindda sounds fishy to me... One step colder than stock.

GL to you.

BTW, the zero forum isnt too bad once you get used to it...

Yep, might be fishy. I did have Denso Iridiums K22 before (grade 6 or 7 don't remember) but I busted them last time I blew my head gasket due to a faulty thermostat. Since I was getting the Nology coil and wires I thought it would be best to try out the Nology plugs... they were cheap anyway.

Those are my top 2 issues with the forums.

Just remember the new Autolite Iridiums are Iridium ENHANCED, not pure iridium plugs, so they won't perform as well or last as long as the NGK and Denso Iridiums.

Hmmm... in any case I get my Denso Iridium plugs from a wholesaler friend here in my country that gives me a really good price. So I'll probably be using those if need be.

Thanks for the tip.
