correct. i took my front 'box' apart last weekend just to see what was inside. amp is inside the box and would stay.

only to have new speakers vs. 12 yr old ones--while keeping all of the interfaces the same.

if there was a 4.5 inch tripod mount 1-ohm speaker from kappa or polk, i'd be all over it. i've never seen another that is physically like these bose 4.5" [unfortunately].

That's why I replaced my front speakers with 6x9s. I would normally have used 6.5s, but I had 6x9s on hand.

It's not hard to make a custom mount for them. All the connections are the same, you just need to mount the bose amp somewhere(I would just put it in a box and lay it at the bottom of the door.)
