The best advantage over the K&N filter is that the HKS filters are 200 (I think) micron METAL filters and don't require the oils and special cleaners to clean them out.

Well HKS filters (super mega flows for sure) are carb legal. One of my buddies has one in his mk3 supra and yeah it's got a carb sticker. They've probably got extra info on it at hksusa.com. I've also heard that the HKS one's do need alot of the filters since they go through them pretty quickly. The K&N is just a clean as you go thing. The HKS one's will cost you more both initially and long term and K&N less...but the HKS ones are the ones most people use in Japan. So it's your call.

True that ANY oiled filter is bad for a turbo?

uh oil in inlet = no good.

Oiled filters *supposedly* cause problems with MAF sensors and AFMs but this has not been proven.

And with the Turbo, I know someone who can confirm that. Blitz LM is the way to go, cheap too.

Yeah, K&N filters cause a problem...if they are dripping in oil. You should'nt have a problem as long as when you RE-oil it after cleaning you dont soak it. It's a case of a little bit going a long way. I have one and I can tell you, from the factory it really isn't that oily at all. As for causing problems with the turbo...bah, as long as its not dripping in oil I dont see ANY problem occuring.
