How essential is it to use infiniti air, oil, fuel and transmission filters in a 97 Q45t, as opposed to aftermarket filters? For example, when I first bought my car several months ago, the air filter was dirty, so I immediately replaced it with the appropriate Purolater filter purchased at Advance auto parts. The filters will be changed frequently. Thanks for any thoughts.

If you purchase from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com the price difference is minimal, and most people agree that they're the best filters available. Is it absolutely essential? Depends on your goals - like how long you plan on keeping the car.

Heath's right.

Especially the air and oil filters- They are WAY better quality than aftermarket stuff (unless you believe HYPE over empirical testing).

Do some searching on the forum (if the Search function isnt being halfass again). Its been said that the OEM filters got cheap a while ago, and some folks swear by Mobil 1 filters.

For now, I do OEM, but I might switch to Mobil 1 since I've moved to a larger city and theyre actually available to me locally.
