What do you guys suggest is the best film tint? I am being quoted $200 for Madico tint. And I am being quoted $240 for llumar tint. I know the prices are high but, thats just how it is in my area, for lower prices I would have to drive 20 miles away, in a bad neighborhood. I wouldn't want some guy to do a crappy job for less money, rather just pay for good tint now.

Anyways, which brand of tint film do you guys suggest? Any past experiences?

That's over priced even with the exchange rate now a days. My friends did their Si for 180 Canadian with 3M film and I got my SE R done by the dealer for 200. That's all taxes included.

Btw do you guys have the rules on how tinted the windows can be?

I like the look of the tint during the day and people siting in the back say it's more comfortable with it when the sun's out. However, I have found it does effect how well you can see out the back and sides at night. Really noticeable when I make a turn and check out the side for pedestrians and find i can't see anything. It's a bit worrying.

in regards to the pricing, that's all determined locally... the prices that i sent a link to were "out the door" prices meaning taxes, labor, everything, no hidden fees, and for san diego, those prices are da*n good. I don't think you can say what's fair or what's not from Canada any more than I can do the same for your prices.

In regards to tint, that's all the more reason to do research BEFORE you get tint. I went with solar guard's quantum tint for a couple of reasons...1. Because it is a scuff resistant, fade resistant metallic tint with lifetime warranty. 2. Because it is a metallic tint, in regards to vision from inside the car, it looks completely different. you can run a 5% metallic tint, and still have great visibility from inside the car providing for a much safer driving experience than 5% charcoal or traditional color tint.

In the end, as always, personal preference will win over. Also note, the metallic tints give a more silver look than the traditional tints, thus it will change the entire look of your car.

A good tint shop should warranty their work for at least a year from peeling, fading and cracking of the tint.

Also, make sure they explain how to clean it and what kind of care it may need. ie you can't roll down your windows for at least 24 hours. The place I went to a few years ago actaully gives you a bottle of cleaner and warranty for 1 year.

Both places offer a long warranty, and tell me not to roll down windows for 3 days or sumtn, and not to use ammonia cleaners, i mean they are good places. Just that each one offers a different brand of tint, I just wanted to know what ppl suggest is the best brand of tint.

3M is popular. I also suggest Johnson Window Film, they I know offer lifetime warranty against fading, bubbling and peeling.

Good Luck.

I went with Formula One tint. 5% on the rear sides and rear and 30% on the front sides. Formula One warrants their tint from chipping, cracking, bubbling and peeling for life! Fade is expected with most tints after 5 years (unless you go top of the line ceramic film which is also warranted for life against fade). Can't beat the Formula One warranty, but it comes at a price. I got the comfort series and paid around $260 out the door. All the side tints have a metallic alloy for maximum heat reflection, but the rear is regular flim due to the radio antenna being incorporated into the window. Make sure that you consider this when looking around.

Hope that helps....here is the link to the Formula One film. I have been extremely happy with the results so far.

If i'm not mistaken the top few lines are part of the antenna. The ones below are part of the defogger

Yeah, that was my understanding too on the A/C.
