Can't get the fill plug out with a breaker bar. Can you fill the transmission through the shifter hole if you remove the shifter? Not 100% sure. Figured I'd ask.

Yes. But you still need to remove the fill hole screw or you will never know when it is filled up to the fill hole... When it starts coming out of the fill hole your topped up. GL.

Yeah, I've done it. And will be doing it again in a couple days. It's annoying cause my drain plug is stuck and I have to turn the trans on it's side to drain it. It's out of the car, but still annoying

I just looked up the amount in the fsm and it said 2.1l/2.25qt, I added a little more to be sure.

Justin, that sounds like a pain. Do you have to do that every time?

yea its fine, thats how I recently filled mine. I don't really see any other easy way to do it without pulling the transmission.

Also, I'm curious on what you run in your transmissions. Right now I have Mobil 1 75w-90 Synthetic in there.

In my diff I'm running 2/3 Royal Purple, 1/3 Mobil 1. Both 75w-90.

im pretty sure its a lil more than that... i used to work at a nissan dealership and we including the resident 240 guys used to put something like 4qts or 3.5 of Redline MT90 due to the fact that the factory "full" spec leaves the main bearings quite a bit uncovered in oil....any excess gets puke out the vent anyways

Nissan 240sx FSM (Factory Service Manual) states 2.4L of gear oil for a manual transmission.

just make sure the transmission fluid is gl-4, i think that mobil 1 is gl-5 witch is too acidic or something and is bad for the copper syncros in your transmission.

Too late now. :\ transmission's already effed anyway. There were metal shavings when I pulled the drain plug along with some nice sludge. When I do my VG33 swap it's getting a rebuilt FS5R30A anyway. I'm just babying this motor and trans till I have the cash saved up.
