so i went to regap my plugs to .029 and when i removed the second spark plug it looked like it was brand new, never fired once and the others had obvious evidence of firing. what could be wrong and how do i fix it? bad coil pack?... how do i know or test where the problem is? thanks.

Try to find out if the injector is firing (is it clicking) if that dosn't work lay the coilpack on the valvecover with a spark plug stuck in it and have sombody crank the car. Look for spark. Do that and report back to us.

if you are SURE it was grounded.. next step would be to plug a different (known to be good) coil pack into that spot on the harness and try again.

Sounds like a dead coilpack or ignitor chip. It's been a while since I've done this so my instructions are kinda vague..... but here it goes anyhow..... Pull the ignitor out, one side will have 5 pins and the other side 4. the '5th pin' will be a ground that's constinant on the 4 pins on the other side. So take a test light and put it on the 'extra pin' (it's either on the left or the right, try them both to figure out which one works) and then test the ignitor on the other side to make sure they have continuity.

And just to be sure you had it grounded, try swaping that coilpack (the bad one) to another plug and see if it fires over there.

hope that helps a little,

Paul

then it looks like you have either A) bad wiring (lets hope) or B) a messedup ignitor.

so i tested the thing that movingviolation240 said to and all of them have continuity on the ignitor plugs and i know the coilpack is good because it works when on the first cylinder, and the third cylinder still wont fire, so does that mean i need a new ignitor. is it even possible for the ignitor to work for 3 cylinders but not the forth. thanks.

if you followed the instructions from that image i posted.. than it is UNLIKELY that your ignitor is bad. I would check over all the wires next.

HOWEVER. I did have an ignitor that PASSED said FSM test, yet would not crank over my car.
