Well guys it looks like the Nissan Field Service Manuals (FSM) are no longer available to NICO club members. I posted a link a couple of days ago to water pump removal and it worked fine. A day or so later the same link took me to a copy of the letter that Nissan sent saying NICO could no longer have access, I assume this is across the board and applies to all FSM's not just the Rogue. Happy days for those of us who do our own work. (sarcasm)

This is just bad news. That was a fantastic resource. I am glad that I downloaded the procedure for taking care of the CVT. I only wish that I had downloaded more information.

It doesn’t take much to confuse me. So count me confused. I noticed in this thread that the op links to the NICOclub FSM and the link works.

2011-nissan-rogue-awd-wheel-alignment-t620081.html

However when I try to go there from the link at the top of the page I’m still taken to the love letter from nissans lawyer.

So I searched around and found another site that has service manuals for many different vehicles including Nissan.

I can include a link however I’m not sure I should. If it’s ok to do so I will. So moderators is it prudent to link to another site that has the FSMs for Nissan or has it already been done elsewhere and I shouldn’t worry about it?

There is still active site here:

http://nicoclub.com/archives/nissan-rog ... nuals.html
Right-click them and pick "Save link as..." and save to a folder.

Just make sure that you guys name those files so you won't get confused on which PDF you need while diagnosing and working on your Rogue.

Any idea why Nissan took down the links? Is this something they do periodically, say after a car is a certain age, or did they take down the entire library?

I think its that the forum's owner is "violating" something, according to Nissan. And I think every model year and model of Nissan for the FSM is removed for our viewing. I still have the FSM for the 2014-2016 Rogue.

Yeah, unfortunately there seem to only be one instance of the archive https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://ww ... FSM/Rogue/ and it only had the html and none of the PDFs available. :(

It is and has been a clear violation of US intellectual property copyright law to make service manuals for any brand available online, it's just that the NICO site finally got caught doing it. They countered that by physically buying each one themselves made it legal and that they put them online for Nissan official employees to use but the Nissan patent lawyer stopped that immediately. Spreading official knowledge around for free is absolutely against the law.

Just be glad that the OEMs banding together to make ALL software used on cars considered as the same they apparently didn't do too well in copyright court on that one. Lead by John Deere I'm thinking the move was to try to forbid a person even so much as touching any part under electronic control, claiming modders were making vehicles too hard to fix at the dealerships and that software rewriting (tunes) had all numbers of cars running around in violation of emission laws.

If they get their way they will stop people from even opening the hoods up.

I ordered a 2017 Rogue service manual on CD from ebay. Got it today. It should be close enough to use with my 2018. The CD came from Canada and the guy selling them may get shut down by Nissan too.

Found the subject I was looking for here, but in the Rougue forum so not exactly specific to my model but...

Well, that's disappointing, to put it mildly and respecting forum etiquette. As a new owner of a used Nissan (2009 Versa) with several small issues off the bat I was thrilled to find this site and that it had the FSM available for members. I'd be able to make the car safer and better on my limited funds. What a great resource and service !

Only I guess I missed the window by a couple months and am out of luck. Nice play Nissan, I'm sure it's going to get you a lot of respect and brand loyalty. I'm already regretting my ownership and it's only a day old. If I had an option I'd get rid of it and never look at or recommend a Nissan again. What were they thinking ?

Still, I'm stuck with it for now and will muddle through. I'm sure the group will still be a useful wealth of information when I have questions, and I hope to provide my own help where I can.
