Looking for a little advice from all you out there who have some experience with aluminum flywheels. I'm replacing my clutch and I'm going with a six puck sintered iron disc, I was thinking about getting a fidanza flywheel but I'm worried that the iron disc will eat it up. Should I just run with the stock one? The car will be drag raced and auto-crossed so the clutch is going to see a lot of abuse. My set up so far is a Nsport kit but I will be taking it to stage two soon.

Thanks.

The fidanza flywheel is a good investment if you are doing a clutch job and turbocharging your car. I have one on my car and am still kind of getting used to it. I still cut off the car sometimes because it drops really quick if you don't push in the clutch all the way. I really didn't notice the benefit of it until i barely pressed the clutch and the tachometer climbed pretty fast. All and all, the fidanza flywheel is a good investment, but I am not sure on the affects it will have with the iron disc you are going to install also.

thats not entirely true--its great for drag if you have the tires to hold the power it puts out off the line--its promotes quicker spool and great response.

It totally wakes the KA up--fantastic mod in my opinion

I've been drag racing for years and have always used a lightened flywheel. Its a simple matter of getting used to the motr. But you'll get the same thing with several different mods.

Lighter flywheel = less rotational inertialess rotational inertia = less mass to accelerateless mass to accelerate = faster car, faster response

Most of the Fidanza flywheels have rebuildable friction surfaces. I run a 7.5 lb Fidanza on my Civic and I love it.

Turbo aside, it's the next best upgrade I've done on my car.

Reap the benefits of reduced rotational mass, especially during thise pricey gas season!

Is it possible to get something lighter than stock but heavier than super-light aftermarket? Most I see are around 11lbs. I wouldn't mind having faster revvs, but the dropoff is bad times, so I'm thinking more towards the best of both worlds.

a new stock flywheel is something like $225 anyways... when you think about it, for only $75 more you might as well take the lightened one if its not going to cause any problems.

Having never driven a stock 240...I cant compare. But its not difficult to drive my car and it has a fidanza flywheel, ACT heavy duty pressure plate and a 6 puck unsprung disk. As long as I'm paying attention, all goes well with it ;) The engine revs very freely too, I'm very happy with it.

You could get a used flywheel for .... lets say $50 and get it resurfaced, and lightened to about 17lbs by a local machine shop... probably about $140 or so, or send it to racetep.com:http://www.racetep.com/flywheel.html

I am still in the process of swapping to a manual trans on my convt, but putting in al flywheel that has been lightened to about 18 lbs and fully balanced, etc at a shop here in Denver for $140...

OH! Heads by Paul. I know them.

I got a dirty (most of the time anyway) black S13 hatch with a loudish can exhaust (5Zigen)...popups may or may not be sleepy =)

How about you? I know Ive seen a few nice 240s...there is this red s13 hatch I see all the time...

Black S13 vert with dual-N1, motegi rims, dropped about 1 inch.

I don't see many S13s around Denver, esp verts, I've only seen one white one and one other black one. Most others I see are hatchbacks, and most look pretty stock.

I've also got an 89 coupe with 3-projector silvia front end and a rb25det that I'm working on bringing together... In my copious spare time.

careful with the machined stock flywheel, if it ever explodes it will cut your legs completely off. Thats no BS either. I'm putting a scatter shield on my car with the fidenza. But I have to do to NHRA rules and cars running under 10's.

Hey I am in denver also. I have a black 97' with FN01R-Cs, JDM K's rear wing and bumper, Apex-i N1, dropped 1.5-2.0 in. with JIC FLTs, and a CF hood as far as outside mods. Where do you guys take your car for repairs that you are not equipped to do yourself? Send me an E-Mail if you want to get together sometime.

Would any of you recommend putting that flywheel on a stock KA? Those of you that have them seem to have a turbo.
