I just got my motor back from the machine shop and while they were balancing everything they noticed that the stock flywheel bolts were too short with the new fidanza flywheel. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do? I tried "Denton Bolt Company" and even they didn't have longer bolts that were the right thread pitch etc. :( The bolts will fit but there is only about 1/4-1/3 of an inch of the bolt actually going into the crank and I do NOT feel good about that. This has probably been answered before but the dadgum search is broken

ah, w/e, it's just the flywheel...u act as if theres gonna be alot of stress on those bolts...now if it were on your GT-R wing mount or something i'd be worried about it breaking...but flywheel? dont worry about it dude...

:pface

at least it wasnt an empty bump

If a flywheel breaks loose it can go strait though the bell housing and cut your legs off, no joke. This is why they require bell house guards for drag racing :)

I dunno, I'm probably being paranoid. I actually just measured everything and it IS the same size as the stock flywheel...but when I use the giant washer thingy then I can only see TWO threads on either of them. I dont care if it's factory, I'm finding some longer bolts gosh darnit.

NOW I'm pissed...it turns out not only did the dealership give me the wrong headbolts (E headbolts instead of DE) they also gave me AUTO transmission flex plate bolts instead of MANUAL flywheel bolts. What's really bad is that I lost the damned receipt.

good catch w/ that prob, Nate... i thought dealership parts counterpeeps are better trained than autozone/pepboys counterpersons...

I would just goto the manager of the stealership if they won't get you the correct parts--w/ or w/out the receipt... was it bought a few days ago? in person/phone/email? hopefully w/ a credit card so @ least u can use that as proof of purchase...I hate to pay for other people's mistakes; good luck w/ gettin the rite parts & don't let them charge u for the restocking fee!

I'll try to get them to take them back when I go back for next semester but I bought them in the town where my college is :( Really nice people but I guess they got confused...yeah Sky, that was the problem and I just didn't catch it very quickly. I found the manual transmission bolts laying around and put them in...perfect. For future reference, Manual transmission bolts are stamped MT on top of them and auto, AT.

i was going to say, there are no washers with flywheel bolts, my flywheel bolts have a 12pt head with a flange to seat against the flywheel.

Well, I guess it isn't REALLY a washer, but there is a metal plate about 3in. across with 6 holes in it for the bolts that seats against the flywheel. I wish the parts counter knew me, then maybe they wouldn't **** things up. At least I get a discount at o'reilleys whenever I get parts, I know an employee there who used to own a 240.
