From traffic light to traffic light, I never know which car is going to show up. One minute, it runs great. The other minute, it's like I'm pulling a boat.

I know that the 4th Gen I30 autos are known to have a hesitation problem, but this is unpredictable.

One minute, it'll fly when I punch the gas. Another minute, I could have a cup of coffee waiting for the transmission to downshift. .

It may have something to do with the engine temp and the outside air, as they change so frequently.

On the other hand, it may be something else that is working intermittently.

Does this sound familiar?

I'm with Wes; it sounds like a TPS issue to me as well. You can try cleaning the TPS yourself if you are comfortable with it. The process involves making a small hole in the plastic housing and later sealing it.

Thanks for the info. Please send me any links or directions you have on cleaning the TPS.

It makes sense to me...especially the hesitation issue.

BTW, speaking of throttles, do throttle cables ever get stretched?

I've often wondered whether I am really getting a full WOT when I mash on the gas pedal.
