FICD questions

The FICD is used to provide additional airflow when load is added by the power steering and/or air conditioning, is it not? Does it have any other functions? If I were to not use either of those, could I remove the FICD and simply place the AACV directly on the manifold?I recall seeing some ports and such on the FICD that led into the AACV (memory's really fuzzy on that), but would removing the FICD prevent the AAC from functioning correctly?If any of this is off or simply wrong, could you clear it up a bit?
