Does anyone know what an accurate way to measure the volume of an fiberglassed enclosure. I've fiberglassed 2 times before and i could get away with rough measurements and guestaments but i really can't now since i plan on making a ported enclosure for my SI magnum d-2 that i just ordered.

Is filling the enclosure with water out of the question?

i think the only way you can properly tune your box (other than water) is to build your box, guestimate the size of it, tune your ports accordingly to around 30hz, and go and get it metered... local car audio shops typically have test & tune sessions, and for $15 or so they will meter your sub and test it's frequency response... then you can determine if whether or not the box is too small or too big for the ports...

so you can either lengthen or shorten the ports, or you can fill the box with expanding foam to decrease it's airspace or fill it with polyfill to increase it's size...

but like Rex suggested, testing it with water is the best way to do it ... i mean a 4cu.ft box holds 113 liters so it's a lot of water, but it will not only allow you to figure out the exact box size but also if your box is strong enough to withstand that amount of pressure...you will know that you didn't build the box strong enough for the sub if it blows up... and if you have any air leaks, well...it'll be pissin out water :pface

you could fill the box full of sand or packing peanuts then use some way to measure the amount (2liter soda bottle or milk just with the top cut off. You won't get exact cu ft but you'll be close enough
