i have a coupe and really want a silvia front. the importers want like 900 bucks. and my car needs a paint job anyway, so i will wait till i get a silvia front. but i like the vented hoods and aero bumpers. i also really like the idea of wide fenders for big meaty tires. so why get the metal peices when i would change it all eventually. but i dont see many people running fiber glass parts. i hear some companys make sh*t parts. are there any companys that make fiberglass parts that fit like they shoud? who are the good companys? what does it cost to get a body shop to fit a fiberglass fender/hood? i know it varies from shop to shop, but i really dont know what it takes to fit fiberglass.

what a creep.

look for any reputable company. theres a lot of stuff on the forums about which companies are reliable with their fitment, and the lower quality ones that dont line up how they should.

and if youre considering wide fenders and aero bumpers and stuff, do you have the suspension and wheel/tire combo to pull it all off?

Very reputable. but also, they are over here on the east coast.

food for thought at least.

900 is too much to put a whole new front end on your car, so you want to do an aftermarket fiberglass front end, right?

of course, it must be cheap as f*** (I am assuming).

Well, when people decide they want to spend as little money as possible, they buy s***ty parts and then they don't fit well. THEN, they b**** about it as if they lost out on a lot of money.

Here is my suggestion.

Get fenders and a bumper from VERTEX. They should fit VERY well.

Get a hood from, let's just say DMAX because they are pretty popular right now.

GO find out the prices and add them up.

Those parts should fit pretty well overall.

Get back to us with the price.

They CAN get trashed really fast. This doesn't mean they WILL get trashed really fast.

I broke my last FRP front bumper after having it on the car for 5 minutes. haha

Nope.

As soon as I got onto the freeway, I ran over a rope and it broke the front bumper and I had to pull over and ziptie it back on the car.

The center section then dragged for 2 hours and wore away quite a bit.

Oh well.

really now. Damn, you really gotta give credit to abs body parts, cause i've had full on planks of wood smack my front bumper and nothing has happened. Luckily it missed my windshield by a good foot or so when it flew off my front bumper and over it, but damn a piece of rope. Thats insane. did it like smack up and cut ur bumper in half? how did it start sagging from that.

And to stay on topic op, it seems like with any fiberglass unless you are buying THE top of the line product you are going to get a product from an inferior mold that will be a lot less likely to fit. You also have to take into account the amount of money the company is going to spend packaging, and where that part is coming from. For instance origin is from japan, and if shipped improperly the fiberglass might not arrive in great condition. I'm not saying their packaging is bad because ive never purchased from them, but its something that could happen. IMO Stock aero modified is a better dd application and will probably keep you under the radar more.

It cracked the center section and then the wind pushed the cracked section down onto the ground for 2 hours, so it just wore away minute by minute.

venus is so shady. They take stolen parts i hear, proof would be they would let me trade in nissan parts for jdm conversion. Second they NEVER charge consistently, and they overcharge a lot of the time. You always have to haggle the guy, wtf is that. If i go to a shop I would think it would be different from a craigslist posting but I guess not. Plus the guy there is a d!ck, and he is funny because he will tell me one price but then if i go with a friend it is hundreds of dollars cheaper.

i dont have any silvia parts yet, but will be buying very soon. i dont want to buy any duplicate panels, like buying a conversion, then getting the wide fenders.

i have heard that the cheap sh*tty panels will cost you in time. if its a body shop, that time=money. so the money saved on the part is spent on labor. so i want to know who are the best companys. they all claim to be the best. and if there is a good speed shop in sacramento then it would be awsome to save on shipping. and to just be able to touchand see other parts i am interested in. not having to buy blind. or from a crappy picture.

So what do you want.

Fiberglass parts or metal?

You seem to have your head on straight about the low quality parts.

Save money on the parts, but perhaps just end up paying it back when the body shop has to bust a** to make the parts work.

Buy expensive fiberglass stuff and most likely have it fit very well and minimum work.

Buy the metal stock stuff and not deal with any of that. Perhaps the fenders or hood might have dents...

i would love metal parts but they are a little boring. and i have a dream of fitting big a$$ tires. so i have seen a lota 50mm rears. did a google search and come across some 70mm rear overfenders.

i also really like the simple vented hoods. all of the sweet stuff is fiberglass. except for the jdm nissan aero. unfortunately that stuff is rare and expencive.

Humboldt is kickass! Sucks Arcata Autosports shut down and napa took over.

Buy metal parts. You will be much happier having a dent in your fender than having a chunk gone. Leave fiberglass for extra aero stuffs.

I've talked to him on the phone a couple times, and every time i get different pricing and different levels of intrest on his end of how willing he is to tell me information. Real hard guy to talk to in general. I have heard horror stories of motors from him, and about how he is bad at taking returns/exchanges for brokenb parts, but if its body panels that should be damn near straight forward as far as checking out.

sorry man i guess you don't know how they work there and if you ever do go there you should talk to Mark cause he is the nissan man there and the other guy is the honda man. Also dont call the man a d!ck because name one shop that is will to lower the price of there products. I have bought a silvia front end for only $600 and i didn't even know the guy at that time and now i know the guy and i was happy with that so i do like the place.

fiberglass fenders suck in the long run. my buddie has a set of origin fenders that fit really well, until he hit a possum. they broke off and all that was left was from the middle of the wheel well back. if you want your front end to last, just get oem ones.

yeah well i could name places that have consistent prices. Or a owner who doesnt try to rip people off. Would that not be the better question to ask? I think i will stand by my claim that the older guy there, i dont know his name, is a d!ck. Sorry for being off topic.
