Sorry, I missed that question. Depending on the job, I will use anything from Visqueen, foil, masking tape etc. A lot of bigger jobs require the use of all of them in one way or another. On a job that doesn't need to be absolutely perfect on the backside, I will use Visqueen. Resin will literally fall right off of it. And you can get it in different thicknesses. However, it doesn't mold into areas as good as foil/tape. I really like the Visqueen when doing more of a horizontal lay.... like in a spare tire well etc.motoman399 wrote:

hey so you didnt answer my question.. do they make something else that maybe you spray in as a mold release or like wax or something?
Search for Visqueen plastic You can get it at Home Depot type places.motoman399 wrote:thanks, i figured you did. i searched for visqueen but came up empty handed. can you shed some light on that?
That would be perfectly fine. I have done a ton of vehicles that way with great results. I have built around a thousand custom enclosures in my time, in every imaginable configuration you can dream up.motoman399 wrote:also how would a sub configuration sound if they were in the back facing forward like this\ / \............../
you know kinda a 45* angle or so (dots being the back of the car)would that cancel out the sound quality?
It really comes down to how much sub-bass you want. For a purist, that would be perfectly fine i.e. same amount of power to your subs and highs. If you want to pound though, you are going to want at least 5-10 times as much power to your subs compared to your highs..... assuming the subs can handle the power.FolkertSX wrote:Toby,So using a 4 channel crunch amp to power one sub and 2 speakers would be unnacceptable right? how about using a 2 channel crunch amp to power 2 subs? thanks
Thanks Toby, I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure theres hundreds of questions people have for you. haha.Broadfield wrote:If anyone has questions about product, please feel free to email me. I don't want to dirty up FolkertSX's thread by talking business. But I'll talk glassn' all day long
Thanks for the help! Does anyone else have any opinions on this setup?zerepdivad wrote:I do the 4 channel to 1 sub and 2 speakers a lot for cheap customers.
Run the speakers off the front 2 channels, and then run the sub bridged off of the rears. obviously no lower than a 4 ohm mono load for most 4 channels.

yea it will def help me out job wise. I still don't think they would let me do custom jobs, but they do know i have the ability too and the interest too so i could work at a place a year or so and move up from there.Aoshi1 wrote:Well, I am sure if you pimp yourself out with this awesome fab job, you will be just fine moneywise. people around here pay top dollar for custom fab work.
thanks. It's really not that tough, you just need a lot of time and a ton of patience. Other then that its just basic wood working skills, fiberglass and bondo. and no its not automotive paint. its automotive paint out of a spray can though. haha. but yea, right now its very cold here in chicago so i didn't want to pay for paint, set up a booth, and bring out my compressor and gun just to paint in crappy conditions. I'll probably pull everything out in spring if the paints not holding up. Honestly though it looks fine now and it should hold up so we'll seemotoman399 wrote:
