One thing I can say is you will have additional headaches keeping them tuned. Modifying the fuel injection is a better way to go for what you are looking for. It took me a while to get used to the fuel injection system on my 78 daily driver. It is not really all that complicated. There are lots of options out there.Just my opinion from dealing with 44mm and 50mm triple Solex's on my old 73 Fairlady Z with an L28.

Usually carbs only work better than fule injection during wot, so I doubt you'd see much more power from carbs, and you definately won't get better gas milage.

a well tuned set of tripples, of the proper size and jetting will give you more power the stock injection system sucks

the stock ECU isn't upgradable, if you plan to keep the injectiona dn modify the car either a Z31 ecu swap or stand alone (like megasquirt) is the only way to get it right,a nd the Z31 uses the barbed fuel injectors as well but I think they are the same size as the turbo L28 injectors
