OK, I recently did the underplenum dance - new KS, KS harness, hoses. When the plenum was off I ohmed the FI at the components themselves and thru the FI harness - all within specs. Then I bottoned everything up and started it up and almost immediately (within 2 miles) got a rough idle and rough running thru 2000 rpm (and an intermittent high rpm miss).

So I ohmed the injectors again (thru harness) and the meter didn't even move on #1. Pulled the connector for #1 and ohmed the FI itself - same result.

Fortunately I won't have to pull the plenum again, but sweet mother of Pete, why did the FI fail RIGHT after the plenum job? Maybe I'm just really lucky , but I'm more concerned that something I did (or connected incorrectly) during the plenum job contributed to it's demise. Any thoughts?

These things seem to come in pairs... Q1's second injector failure was a week or two after I replaced the first one. I replaced the other seven on the second plenum pull. Didn't have the benefit of this board (or know about ohming and flushing) back in 1997... Tried remans - but then replaced all eight again a month or two later. Three plenum jobs in two or three months. Pain... agony...

Wow, looks like I'm not alone on this issue. Guess I have more busted knuckles to look forward to. It is tempting to just replace them all - I'd consider that pretty seriously if I had to pull the plenum again...

Yep, Tends to happen in pairs and some times triples and more. Most recently, replaced #5 in late October- ohmed all while I was in there and found all to be within specs- 5 weeks later #6 and #7 went bad. I've now replaced 31 injectors and the multiple failure thing has happened at least 3 times. I don't think it was anything you did that caused it.

Luckily, it was #1 and not one of the ones under the plenum. If you plan on keeping the car, next time you have to pull the plenum to get to one I'd order them from Joe and replace them all.Paul
