Does anyone know if Nissan put magnets in the pan of the VH41DE from the factory?? I'm about to replace the filter and pan gasket, and just wanted to know if I should invest in some rare earth ones before I take everything off.

Every Nissan transmission that I know of has had a magnet.

On the back of the pan toward the drain plug, there should be a little bump probably about an inch in diameter where the magnet sits.

Cool ,
Sounds like a weiner [sic] . I suppose I'll just clean off the existing one with some brake parts cleaner. Does that sound like an SOP?

To hell with it...There's a metal pipe around one side of the pan that covers the pan bolts, probably goes to the rear differential or something.... I can't get it to budge. I don't even have that much clearance to get to all the bolts when I have it up on the ramps anyway, just because the pan is almost at the center of the car. There's just some few times when you think it might be unsafe crawling underneath a car so heavy. I'll just have my mechanic do it. I'm gonna give him a few extra ceramic magnets from Radio Shack to put in the pan too... couldn't hurt, could it?
