Well one of my friends will be happy. He's a big FF nut and was planning to get a PS3 just for FFXIII. Now he won't have to.
As for whether this is good or not (and this is directed at the people who had these ideas, and not you f1seb):What on EARTH does EA have to do with Square Enix? EA sucks. They never do ANYTHING right, regardless of what it is. Of COURSE they farked up porting games. That's because they're EA. Who said Square Enix was going to do things the way EA does? Bunch of whiny Sony guys need to put their brains back in.
You can bet that if Square Enix is releasing their game on two systems, they'll put forth the effort necessary to make it shine on them both.Final Fantasy XI was released on THREE platforms, and it works wonderfully on all of them (Xbox 360, PS2, and PC...you don't get more varied than that).
The Sony guys who are upset over this are just being whiny bishez. What they're doing would be like me complaining that Half Life 2 was released on Xbox 360 as well as PC. Doesn't hurt me one bit as a PC gamer. It DOES make the game available to a lot more people, though. How on earth could I be upset about that.
The Sony whiners need to wake up and smell the coffee: the Square/Sony marriage ended a LONG time ago. FF games have been released on non-Sony platforms for years. Nothing new here.
Also, who's to say the 360 won't get the crappy end of a port? Hasn't FFXIII been in the works for some time now on PS3 hardware? Wouldn't that mean the 360 would get the port?
Man...combine bad Sony fans and bad Final Fantasy fans and you've got a special kind of stupid. (Please note, that is specifically directed at the BAD fans of both. Obviously most fans of both are not that way).
EDIT:My head is STILL reeling here. Just the idea that people are upset about a SQUARE game being ported because EA does it badly is cranium-melting. Seriously WTF? Man, I'd better not buy any sedans any time soon. Remember when Ford screwed up the Edsel? Geeze obviously sedans are a bad idea.
