Nearing the completion of my bottom end for KA-T and two things are stumping me.

Are the S14 and S13 Oil pumps different...? Because this says it fits 95-98 S14.

Also, why do the supertech pistons on FRSport say S14 KA24DE? I was under the impression the pistons work in any RWD KA24DE.

And also, what is the hexagon shaped thing to the left of the oil filter on the block? I've rebuilt a KA before but I don't recall doing anything with that thing...

The pistons WILL work in any, BUT the 91-93 had a 9.0:1 compression ratio while the 94-98 had a 9.5:1 compression ratio. As far as the oil pump, I looked at two pictures side by side and can't see the difference, but apparently 1991 - 1/1994 is different from 2/1994 - 1998. I looked it up on courtesyparts.com, but they had the same part number. Just call somebody at Nissan and ask to make sure... Good luck.
For the hexagon shaped thing, are you talking about the heater hose elbow fitting towards the rear of the engine?

I searched it up, the front TOP timing covers are different. The front BOTTOM (which i am getting) are the same.

Yes that was what I was talking about.

Ok, well good luck. That heater hose elbow doesn't need to be fooled with... and it's only hexagonal so it can be wrenched in.
