I have been a member of this forum for only about two weeks now, and i have already learned so much. I realized that im still a little ways from buying my first Z and that i should now a lot more before I make my purchase. Looking around Ive seen a few Zs with bodies in really great conditions and failrly low mileage for decent prices, but these few are all automatic. I was wondering just how hard and expensive it would be to swap the auto trans with a manual. Ive looked on ebay stores for whole transmissions and have seen some for as cheap as $300. How much would i have to put into other parts for the swap. Im not worried about the price of instillation because my uncle will be helping out. THanks

The price on everything else depends on a few factors:1.Are you keeping the clutch that is in there or replacing it?2.If replacing what company?3.What kind of clutch assemply are you looking (I.E. Street, Race, 6 puck etc..)?

All of these have to be made when when it comes to a Z don't go cheap on parts like these or you will end up being in the market for a new transmission again.

Here is a site that gives you a few companies to start you off.

(Just scroll down to transmission and find what you want they usually have pretty good prices for things on there)

when you buy a used trans, it does not come with the pela, addy, cluthc booster, hoses, flywheel, pressure plate, or disk, also I think it requires a different driveshaft, you also need to either swap the harness and ecu or disable the neautral saftey swithc,a nd wire in a clutch saftey switc, if at all possible hold out for the 5 speed, the swap will end up costing you much more than just buying the car you want and thats without labor!
