Hey Guys,

I bought my altima coupe 2.5 S used from a dealership for $11,500, it is pretty loaded was a customer order, so heated seats, leather, bose sound system, auto headlights, auto dim mirror, dual climate control etc etc., which was an amazing price considering all the other dealers in my area had them listed for $13-15k 100% base line. The reason it was listed lower is that the one owner didn't take very good care of the exterior, there are a few places with alot of small clusters of scratches, almost like a pet was put on the roof, or like an x-mas tree, they mostly look like if you were trying to unlock the car with your keys and missed, but in big clusters.

My question is can I do anything about it? Its really only noticeable when the car is clean sitting in the sun, but at that point its pretty obvious..

I know my two options are to try and do it myself, with some store bought products..any recommendations? Or should I just bring it to be professionally detailed and see what they can do

I can get some pictures of the scratches if need be...

Few other questions...do the basic altima coupes all come pre-wired for fog lights? If I want to toss some HID"s in, do I have to buy new projectors as well?

Thanks!

For the paint scratches. If you know your paint code, you can buy touch up paint from the dealer or I think from a place like Advance auto and try and touch it up yourself. Or you can have the affected panels professionally painted if you'd like. Doing it yourself will be cheaper, but it might not match cleanly.

The coupes that didn't come with fogs come with spots to mount the fogs if I'm not mistaken, but they aren't wired. You would have to splice into the wires yourself if I'm not mistaken.

If your car has halogen, you'd have to get an HID conversion kit which would convert the electrics to the power needed for HID's. You'd also need new ballisks, which are provided in a lot of the kits.

I'm sure you could take the car to a detailer and get them to buff out the scratches if they're not too deep.

In a perfect world, you would retrofit your headlights with projectors from another car, but I'd say maybe around 40% of people with HIDs have a retrofit. Most don't, and to be honest the glare isn't too bad with the A/C (I've driven a different car in front of my A/C with 8000K HIDs, not much glare).

s***, I've dealt with worse glare coming from my friends GTI with an OEM HID projector setup, along with many other luxury sedans and SUVs with the same setup. You will never achieve a setup that never glares, but getting a projector retrofit into halogen headlight housings is definitely popular.
