Ok, so i took the sr out of the plastic and got to work

i pretty much stripped it right down to the block

I was surprised how easy everything came off, both sides came off pretty much as one piece.
then scrubbed with degreaser, then wire wheeled the s*** out of it. Taped some stuff of, soaked with acetone and sprayed it. Started with 2 coats of primer, then 2 coats of duplicolor aluminum engine enamel, followed by a few clear.
And this is the finished product, turned out pretty good
Then i started sanding and painting all the little odds and ends, brackets etc. I ordered a polished intake and turbo manifold, when i got them they were dull as could be, i tried to polish them up a bit
Believe it or not thats 100 times better then it was, couldn't get any better without re sanding

Turbo manifold came a little better
I installed a new thermostat, i got one for a 91 sentra, looks a little flimsy compared to the stock one, but it fits. I had a gasket with the kit i got for the build, but i Applied some liquid gasket anyways.
After removing the bolts just give it a tap with a rubber mallet and it will break loose, use a razor blade or gasket scraper to remove the old gasket.

To remove the thermostat from the waterneck i had to give it a tap with the rubber mallet
The one on the left is the new one from a 91 sentra.

Place the thermostat in the housing with the plunger up top, apply liquid gasket and tighten.
Same thing applys for the waterpump, break the seal with rubber mallet, remove old gasket, reinstall with liquid gasket, torque to 12-16 ft-lbs. I have a full list of torque specs i used so far on the garage computer if anyone needs them.
Thermostat and waterpump installed
Got board so i sprayed the blaster

I blasted the crank pulley and sanded it, was going to paint it blue but decided to leave it as is

What would be the best way to keep it from rusting? I polished it with a fine compound, not sure if that will do or not. if i sprayed a clear coat over, would it do the trick?
My suspension bushings and heater hoses came in last week, still waiting for my grounding plate, and going to order a powder coated valve cover, candy blue

Picked up a nice little acetylene set, gonna need it to burn the old bushings out.
there are no powder coating shops in my area so im gonna get one from these guys
http://www.trgcoating.com/color_chart.php
Its $45 for the powdercoating, $20 for a candy color. He has the covers in stock, so he coats one, color of choice, ships it out, when i recieve it, i take mine off and ship it back. Does that sound like a good price?
Here the color
I cleaned up the turbo a bit

I didnt wanna paint the turbo because it will prob burn the paint off on first start up, oh well, did it anyway.

(notice the hicas p/s pump to the right? is there some kind of pin that holds it or something? i soaked in pb blaster 5 times a day for a week, tried to take it off, ended up snapping the threaded rod in the middle of the puller. i welded a deep socket on the threads and tried again, heated it up with acetylene, started reefin on it with the breaker bar, and snapped the arm off the pulley puller

)
I installed a megan turbo elbow, for some reason they only gave 2 studs to fit the turbo, the rest were too big

i went ahead and used the stock bolts for the rest, and for no apparent reason, the threads on the turbo were stripped, i broke out the tap and die set and fixed them up.
I started the stainless turbo lines,i went by this diagram

Turbo lines
I put teflon tape on the fittins, not sure if it is necessary, when using teflon be sure to wrap it the opposite way of threads, otherwise it will just peel of when threading in.
I was having trouble holding the turbo while trying to break the banjo bolts, so i just cracked them off with the impact.
Used a 12mm line wrench to break the water return line
Old vs New
Installed
Alot of spots on the turbo and manifold there was no room to fit a socket, is there anyway to get a close torque reading from a wrench? Or is it just best guess?
There was a bracket that came with the manifold, it on the right, i tightened that up
Then installed it on the turbo. There is no room to fit a socket here, i don't feel to safe crankin it with a wrench and calling it good, even with those locking tabs. Oh when i started tearing apart the turbo, everything was hand tight. Seriously, I never used a tool on a single nut or bolt when taking it apart. Other then the bracket on the wastegate actuator.
I bolted the turbo side up lastnight
Thats it for now, i'll start the intake side next. I gotta take a break from the car for a week or 2, all the boys are home from away, and their pissed because i spend more time with the car then getting drunk 7 days a week with them (to old for that s***

) lol
