hey guys, im new to the SR family, previous motor was a pretty much built KA(11.7:1, Colt cams, all running on SR 370's) but the new car has a red top in it. The car is running uber rich right now, anyone really know why? Im suppose to tune it Saturday(just a street tune) but my friend is bringing along his wideband and my car already has an SAFC. Just wondering why it is running so rich? Its a stock red top, apexi N'1 exhaust and a MBC, car is running at 9lbs.. I am a ****ing SR NEWB so I dont know what psi is safe for my setup, I'll kill myself if I blow this ***** up. Also what octane should I be running? I ran 89 on my old car and it had a raised compression. Im hoping to squeeze buy on 89 or 91 because gas is 2.60 on a good day here for 89/91(I say the slash cuz around here its unleaded, plus, premium everywhere..87 is unleaded 93 is premium and plus varies on the station you go to the price on the other hand doesnt) Just wanted to know somethings about the SR. I tried searching but really couldn't get a definite answer.. Right now the guy I bought it from said its running rich because its on t he stock fuel pump but I dont really see how that could be making it run rich at all so I think the dude doesn't know what the **** he is talking about, im thinking a boost leak maybe or something..?

Most sr20s run rich, mine ran crazy rich before I got a safc just turn it down a little... As for the octane I wouldnt run anything but premium in my sr.

Check for boost leaks and verify the timing is at 15º BTDC. I wouldn't go over that 9psi mark without an upgraded intercooler (front mount) and a higher flow fuel pump.

About the octane, Premium 93, always...

okay thanks, im throwing a K&N on tonight, my immediate futures mods are gonna be: Full tune up, Walbro 255, and probally do a frount mount and an decent not to loud BOV before I begin to uprgrade fuel anymore and throw on a bigger snail. Im debating between just a BBT28 of the S15 or just go with the SC61 Im keeping the T2small for awhile though. It think im gonna go with a FMIC(hybrid), HKS SSQ, Walbro 255, an run it 9psi Daily, 11 when I wanna have some more fun. What do you guys think about that?

With those last mods, you can push it to 14 psi and get about 250hp :-) I'm looking into upgrading to the S15 T28 or the GT2871R.
