Started working on the car again after nearly 6 months of doing nothing.

Finally got the oil tank located and the lines all made up and installed. Pretty pleased with the job considering I'd never used a TIG welder before. Also managed to eliminate a big loop in the front scavenge line by replacing the braid with hose and clips - the braided line wouldn't bend tightly enough. If anyone has any ideas on how else I could do it shout up!

Also managed to get the alternator mounted which was worrying me up until now. Had to do a bracket with an idler pulley on to clear everything else.

Yeah, basically a 5.0l VH45 with 12:1 comp ratio, 280deg cams, flowed heads, ITB's and dry sump.

I got my tig off ebay for £80 and it's pretty good according to my mate I got to teach me how to use it. DC only unfortunately so can't do ali but the AC ones are like £1000. Also, ali is apparently much harder to weld.

John , I have been looking into the VH for a while, for a possible swap in a 240z. I am wondering if you would mind posting the specs for your cams, Durations, lift, EVO, IVO e.t.c. I remember you saying they are regrinds and 280deg, but not much more. If you could discuss a bit on the subject as to why you chose this particular profile, that would be great.

I'll dig out the spec sheet when I'm next over at the car. The timing is 30/70 70/30 @ 50thou, set up to go to this timing when VTC active.I was really guided by the engine builder on the spec, they're a pretty big cam for a road engine designed to give a pretty high rev power band. The profile is quite aggressive so have soild lash adjusters too.I used similar profiles in peugeot engines in the past and they worked well.

Good choice in brakes and sway bars, run the same myself

Any more details on this really cheap TIG? Looking for one myself. Got a link to the ebay auction?

The sway bars made a huge difference. Actually got loads more suspension bits to fit but will wait until it's running first!

If you search ebay.co.uk for Rehmann TIG160 inverter TIG you'll find loads of them. Not sure if they do a 110v version for the states though.

I'm an Aussie

I've done all my suspension bits and the engine is next, also looks like I've picked up a HKS 6 speed Z32 dog box for a steal!

Can you find another one at a steal? If so I'll fly over and grab it:)

Nah, only one we know of in Aus. Came in a built Z from Japan. The guy only wants $1000 + Zed box + New clutch. Needs money pretty bad it seems. Can't get hold of him at the moment. Think whatever he needed the money for might have caught up with him
