Took a little trip with the girlfriend to a restaurant the other night and on our way out, I spotted a nice little black car with big yellow brakes and horsies all over it. I kinda casually drove by looking at it, and the owner happened to be leaving as well, so I pulled away and went to head home. Except, he must have seen me drooling over his car and hopped in, following me all way out to the main divided four lane highway right in front of the mall here in LaCrosse. I pulled out, and just casually started driving, and then he pulls up next to me. We were rolling at about 20 mph and then he stomps on it and takes off, so I was like why not, and did the same. Pulled through second with a joyous amount of wheel spin (50 degrees out), and then to redline in third. He obviously got a decent jump on me, but I stayed about 1.5 cars behind him the whole time!

But here's where I get confused. It was a 599 GTB with a 6 liter V-12 and 612 hp, against my Z with stock auto turbos at 16psi, Profec B Spec 2, 555's, Pop Charger, HKS style FMIC, turbo back 2.5" with factory mufflers, pulleys, flywheel, and about 100 lbs worth of deletes.

Is this as big of a surprise to anyone else or are our Z's really that fast??

I've never really felt the need to race people on the street before but considering I don't get to race $310,000 Ferrari's everyday, I'm glad I did! :chuckle:

Haha who knows, that's what I like to think! I saw that he had paddles when I pulled up to it before, and I had my windows down so I could hear the exhaust (I about wet myself it sounded so good lol), and he was definitely on it, but who knows he could've been short shifting or had it in rain mode or one of the fifty modes for power and drivetrain on those lol.

I'm not a fan of racing on the streets nor have I ever promoted it but honestly if I ever get the chance to line up with an exotic (especially if the exotic encourages the battle between the two machines :chuckle:) I would attempt to beat the brakes off of it (as long as it is safe place). If he was actually racing I'm willing to bet he was probably crying even though he won for the simple fact that a 22 year old Nissan was keeping up with him.

So wish you had a video.

Stay safe.

Agree 100%. Speeding is fun, on a track. Besides I plan on keeping the Z for life, and an accident over a street race is something I know I wouldn't let myself live down, granted I live to feel that way lol. And it turns out speeding tickets aren't quite as fun after the first couple... :squint:

he was toying with you man! i have ridden in a few 500whp z's and they are scary fast, and would absolutely blow the doors off my setup of 365 whp. any similar correlation of power would yield a similar result imo. still a cool story though.

The 599 is automatic, there's no way the guy was seriously racing him.

That's like the video on YouTube of a big single turbo Supra messing with a Lambo. The Lambo pulls hard for the first few second and then the Supra's turbo spools andddddd GONE

cool story, my friend has a tt with bolt ons n its fast, but alot different than these exotics.. im used to driving n messing around in the tt but i recently got to take a lamborghini superleggera on track with my father in law who was in a ferrari 458 italia, n its just alot different n more controlled feeling with the 500+ n/a horsepower... not as exciting as high boost hitting hard, but definitely noticeable power control n super easy predictable n responsive. that italia was definitely no joke lol off topic but on a windy track z32 does have a bit of weight in the front n im sure plenty of people other than me have experienced the understeer, with the ferrari and lamborghini understeer didnt even cross my mind!!! n i havent even got to drive the gtr yet!! but hopefully soon :gapteeth: thats awesome though if your z is that fast n if he was messing with you, atleast your girlfriend doesnt know that :dblthumb: lol

Before my motor went bad I had gone up against a couple vettes, one Z06, and a brand new STI and stayed ahead of them all. The last time I horsed around I knew my motor was going bad and wouldn't play with the guy, in a blacked out Z06, he kept passing and slowing down so I finally gave in and dropped it a gear. Flew up on him and passed him. Kept going till I was a ways in front so as to make a point then let off, aaaaand that's when the blue smoke started billowing out my tail pipes haha smoked him then smoked him I say hahaha

Sorry man, but with the power you are making, the Ferrari was not giving is all it has. That V12 pulls like a mug. I do know from experience how those cars go. The other thing, if you went past 120 with him, you definately would have gotten walked. Again, I know how quickly those things eclipse 150 ;-) It wouldn't surprise me if the guy driving was scared of the car as most people that can afford them can't drive!! Although there are exceptions, believe me.

On a side note, if you have not checked out the new V12 car coming out, do some searching for Ferrari F12. It's going to be a monster. We just received our PDI forms for it so they should be knocking on the door in the US soon.

Safe driving y'all.
