I'm watching a show on the subject of wild pigs, and for about a year this has been on my mind, but nobody I know at home knows too much about it beyond my own knowledge, which is limited.

I do know that a couple about 10 miles north of me killed four feral pigs, the largest of which was 514 lbs. Here is the article: http://www.mlive.com/news/musk....html

Also, how does wild pig meat taste compared to store-bought pork. Is it good?

Before gun deer season 2009 here in WI I read an article about feral pigs becoming more common here. I was really hoping to bag a couple, no such luck. Im pretty sure that the "season" is open all year here and there isnt a bag limit. As far as taste, I would think that it would taste the same as pork from the store. Maybe a little gamy.

I've heard it doesn't taste too much different than regular pork.

One of my father in law's "tame" farm pigs just went after him. He lost an argument with the 30-06. That will be a freezer full for me.

I think there's an open season on feral pigs in upstate NY.

It tastes completely different.

It's like Wild turkey vs store bought farm raised.

It is tough and very lean. Almost no fat.

or an eastern TN BBQ... i love wild pork. but you must cook it rotisary style. if you wanna catch one just bait it into your yard. and take it down. works and you can do it all from the porch drinkin a beer
