Ok, so here's the story. It was my fault, many months ago, and I never really cared to fix the fender. Didn't seem to be best for the car when there were more important things to fix other than cosmetics.

So today after parking my car, a guy pulls up and yell, "Do you want that fender fixed?"

And I said, "How much?" So he pulls over and takes a look at it. I also show him my other dent, which was there when I bought the car.

The guy tells me he works at an auto repair shop and has all the tools to pull out the dent on my fender for me right now. He says he just got off work and it's rather easy to do.

He says, "$200" or something like that. And I tell the guy I don't have that much. He goes, "Alright then, how much you working with then. How much do you want to spend to fix BOTH the dents?" I told the guy $100 (I don't know why, it was just the first number that came to my head other than free). And he said he'll do it. I then told him I don't have $100 on me, and he says not to worry about it, he'll pull out the dent for me now for what I have on me (which was $20).

He says to call him up again when I have more cash to finish the job. I asked him how much to just do the fender, since he already put holes in my fender (I'll try to post pics tomorrow, too dark right now) and he said $30. So that would make the whole fender repair only $50... which includes pulling the dent, sanding the holes, primering it, painting, and then a shot of clear coat.

So do you guys think that's a good deal ? $50 to fix a dent in my fender. And then another $50 to fix the the bumper ?

I can assume you guys will ask me, "Well, why didn't you do it yourself ? It's not that hard to pull out a dent. Or, the dent didn't look that deep or damaging, it should have been easy for you to do it yourself." And the answer to that is... No time or experience in doing any body work. He says he works on body repair for a living. So I guess I trusted him. He seemed like a really nice guy. I got his home number (didn't have a cell) and i wrote down his license plate just incase of anything bad happens.

Let me know what you guys think. And I'll try to post pics tomorrow as soon as I can.

So is that a yes or no Graphfixz ?

And slow s13 . It's only one guy so far. Maybe I'll let him do the fender first, see how it comes out and then decide whether the bumper should be done. And damn, you scare me slow s13... I hope that doesn't happen to me.

Anyone else ?

I think...

If he has a shop he has a business. If he has a business you might want to check the local BBB and see his record.

You get what you paid for.

Well, that's what he did so far yesterday. he put holes in the fender so he can 'pull' the dent out if you know what I mean. Took him only about 5 minutes.

That's just another view of the dent in the bumper if anyone wanted to see.

He said it wasn't his shop. He just works there. If I go to the shop, they'll charge me an arm and a leg. Side job = side money. I unfortunately didn't get his business card. Although I did ask for it... hmmm

And yeah, this was the first time I ever 'cheaped' out on anything...

hey vincei'll do the bumper for you, easy as pie!if you want it painted, that's another story. the best i can do for you is probably sand down the imperfections caused by the indentation.

and for the fenderi'l have to see up close to see how wavy the dent is. got any bondo on you?

Thats not to bad of a job you just need to get it finished up, which is usually the ultimate pocketbook killer. I would have just taken the fender off and got another one or just poped it out.

I've heard of a lot of people around here that got scammed like that too.

The plastic can be repaired also. Just a little different from sheet metal repair. Sometimes heat will pop the dent out because the plastic has a memory and wants to return to it's original shape.
