Ouch!SammyTheBull wrote:Snow in KC + Summer tires = Me hitting the back of someones maxima with the back of my M35 (I fishtailed into them while trying an "avoid" maneuver)
Dropped my car off today, 3k in damage and wont get it back until Feb. 9th.

Tough words, but your point is well-taken.tytamto wrote:Hate to be a party pooper, but I feel that it has to be said... that driving in the winter, especially in the snow, on summer rubber is irresponsible and inexcusable. Just be glad that you ended up being involved in a low speed collision, and without any injuries/fatalities. If there were to be some serious consequences, a good lawyer would have a field day with your case.
Let this be a lesson for anyone out there that is planning on doing the same.
Remember, you, as an owner of a 4000lbs car, are ultimately responsible for the condition of your car, tires included.
I am sure that your opinion would very quickly change if you were on the receiving end of this; if your car was hit by him, and god forbid, you lost a family member because of it, or you yourself became a cripple. I am just trying to put things into perspective.candymanfb wrote:KARMA
This is why we have auto insurance. I'm glad everyone walked away from it!
Would you feel the same if you have a 6-7 year old son or daughter and he/she got hit by a driver in winter with summer tires and your kid ending up in a wheelchair feed thru a tube for the rest of the life? You would have to see him suffering the rest of the life because somebody wasn't resposible enough to buy a set of appropiate tire.candymanfb wrote:Things happen in life due to our actions or inaction. FYI - My step-father was hit by a car that had bad brakes in 1988 - he didn't survive. I have no hard feeling towards the driver. This is my perspective.Life goes on.
My car stayed in the Garage all winter long, i have the Awd Version with all seasons, and it was total garbage in the snow. You should invest in some winter beater 4x4 truck with some snow tires, like i haveSammyTheBull wrote:Snow in KC + Summer tires = Me hitting the back of someones maxima with the back of my M35 (I fishtailed into them while trying an "avoid" maneuver)

Intersting view point.SammyTheBull wrote:WOW!! a lot more response than i thought. First of all, i am not looking for persona "poor me" type sympathy. It was more of a "My poor car" thing. Everyone on here is obviously fanatic about the appearance of their rides. I am not an irresponsible person, and i do only drive my car in good weather conditions. It was a decent day with no weather to speak of, I had to work late snow started coming around 8pm, this happened at around 10pm.
I had no intentions on being out at that time, but thats the way it went down. To compare that in the same regard as a drunk driver is asinine.
Or a cheap set of steel wheels with snow tires for the M (assuming that having a second vehicle is not a choice some people can make).MagicM wrote:My car stayed in the Garage all winter long, i have the Awd Version with all seasons, and it was total garbage in the snow. Asinine or not you can decide.SammyTheBull wrote:I had no intentions on being out at that time, but thats the way it went down. To compare that in the same regard as a drunk driver is asinine.
