One stage paint vs two vs tri. Can i add clear coats to one stage paint and look as clean as two?

for people that don't know. tri paints are used for candy type paint jobs.

anyone?

I sometimes use clear over a single stage paint (I paint helmets) but you have to be careful that the products don't react w/ each other and cause problems. The end result is as good as two stage.

u can add a clearcoat to single stage paint but there are rules. first u cant use any kind of clearcoat. u have to use intergrated clearcoat. first u spray on the single stage paint and wait till it is completely dry. after its dry mix the intergrated clearcoat according to the instructions. then spray on a tackly coat, wait about 5 mins then spray on 2 wet coats. it should now look as good as a basecoat clearcoat paint. three satge paint is the basecoat, then u spray on a mix of pearl and clear. (not clearcoat!! its a tint called clear). then comes the clearcoat. i personally think two stage paint is the best becuase its clean and not so frustraiting is u mess up.
