so a few weeks back some dumb ***** clipped my rear fender (prob. pulling out of a parking spot at the mall) of course they did not leave a note with their info.

heres the damage:

Its basically minor scratches and no dents.

Do you think touchup paint will do the trick? my collision deductible is 500$ and i know the body shops will quote me less to fix it so its a pure out of pocket expense.

Ayudame.. whats that mean?

I dont think you need any paint... hit that bad boy with an orbital and it should buff out, they dont look like deep scrapes IMO, but the pic isnt the best and I could be wrong.

Well i wouldnt do it yourself if you arent familiar with it...

But yes an orbital is a buffer, it could cost from $20-200 for one, and you will need a bonnett for it and some of the right buffing cream/goop/polish to make it work properly...

I know some of the guys here have orbitals and can point you in the right direction, but id get a friend/shop to take a shot at it before I did it myself.

That ones got a "goop" holder built in.. you put the polish on, and use the orbital to buff out the imperfections..

A huge tree branch fell on my hood one night, it left a scratch almost 2 feet long, i got it TOTALLY buffed out

That appears to be through the paint IMO. I don't think any amount of buffing will cure that.

Something this small should NEVER be reported to insurance IMO, its just a waste...

Also Tyler (shift_coupe) may be right, but from the pics and the dirty car, its hard to tell how deep it is.

personally I would take it to a professional to look at. check with local body shops if you think that it will require paint. Shop around for the best price and im sure you can get that fixed pretty cheap. I wouldnt try to touch it up yourself. I have seen too many people do it themselves, and if you have never done it, it can come out very noticable.

I had something similar happen to my car.. see this thread

http://forums.altimas.org/zero...02449

All I did to get it off was an orbital buffer(A cheap like 40 dollar one from Sears Craftsman) and microfiber bonnets and some of this turtle wax polish. It was the least abrasive, I am not sure what they called it.It did take at least a 45 minutes to get the scuff out and I used a decent amount of the polish to get it out. You definitely gotta use an orbital buffer though it makes it so much easier.

Yea, on a 2nd look it does look like its through the paint. If it isnt though a buffer will work!Good luck OP

if you take it to a "reputable" body shop, they will charge more than $100 to paint, why? its cause they would repaint the whole bumper and not just part of it. reason being is that the colors might not match. average cost might be close to $500 or so, depending on where you live.
