Traveling for work in Flo Rida check out what they gave me to drive. It is not fast, at all.

With the ESC off and SPORT on it still limits engine power until you are moving pretty good. Acceleration above 80 mph is almost nonexistant. Driving above 80 mph is so loud, road noise and engine noise you can not have a conversation on your bluetooth. The steering wheel does not telescope. The paint has numerous chips, makes the paint on my G seem very good and this car had 500 miles on it when I got it. The SPORT button just makes the transmission hold a gear longer before upshifting when you let off the gas. There is only 1, ONE!!! 12volt accessory outlet and I have a Garmin, a laptop and a Blackberry that all need charging. The automatic suck, no rev match, even in 'manuel' mode it will shift for you at about 6,000 rpm. The sunroof interior cover is perforated vinyl. In true Italian car fashion there is a part of the wiring harness that has come loose and is under the drivers foot area, if you touch it you will get shocked! My Samsonite medium size suitcase does not fit in the boot without folding the rear sears forward.

Still in spite of all those 'problems' I LOVED driving this car. I got so many looks people pointed and waved. A 6.0 GTO tried to race me? One of the places I stopped the guard told me about when he was a Fiat salesman in the early 70's.

I like the single instrument speedometer. I like the buttons for the windows and sunroof. Everything has a sturdy Italian feel to it. The seats were comfortable, I put 300+ miles on this car in 24 hours. Even though the transmission did not rev match or let you hold a gear to redline it did shift firmly and with purpose. The exhaust tone is Italian. Handling was amazing! The tires are almost at the four corners of the car. It looks cool!

Restroom sign in the mens room of a gas station ESL? Who here doesn't love "gizzle flush"?

Audi style key fob, cool at first but gets old. Should have push button start. Additionally you have to be within 4 feet to get the fob to do anything. Unlock and Lock are opposite of my Infiniti's key fob which was frustrating to me.

Rear seats, legless people only

Interior Love the dash! That nice shiny body colored piece that looks like it might be metal, is plastic :-(

Gauge, the center can display the radio station, song that is playing, trip, odo, time, temp, speed ect

Sunroof, this is the same material BMW uses on its sunshades in the rear seats of the M5. closed-open

Fiat 'multi air' motor somewhere under all that plastic

Doors open wide, I'm just over 6'2" and 200lb the car was comfortable for me to drive

Sorry the picture quality is so low, all I had was my blackberry.

One of the many many spots paint was simply missing from a 2012 car with 500 miles on it?

That looks like a hoot! Seems like the worst kind of car to have an automatic transmission in, which unfortunately is what we're likely to see among 500s exported to the US.

The paint spots on top look like they might be shipping damage.

Do want!

It being an automatic is a huge problem. An even bigger problem is the traction control system. It is impossible to spin the tires on take off. You can brake stall till about 2000 rpm and take your foot off the brake and it very slowly takes off. Even leaving the beach I just punched it in the sand! and no wheel spin happened. Leaving a light at WOT with Sport on and ESC off is like leaving a light in an electric golf cart until about 10mph when the cars electronics let you actually have WOT.

A second problem and this just might affect drivers like me, acceleration above 80mph is almost non existant. The topspeed for this car is somewhere very close to 110mph if you could ever find the time and room. My G35 will hit 110 mph on a freeway on ramp?

Still with me driving it I got 23 mpg. My car today is a 2012 Ford Focus that is about twice as fast as the Fiat and more fun to drive :tisk:

The Fiat needs more power and access to it. :woot: You can not beat the looks though for a tiny car that feels big.

Don't really like this one, it reminds me too much of a bug. No thanks.

I'm all about these little things, I want to drive one bad. There's quite a few around the DC area this week. Once the Abarth makes it over here, I'm highly considering picking one up, because to me it's this generations Mark I VW Golf/Golf GTI.

Clarkson, May, and Hammond can't be wrong, apparently our big oafish American selves can't fully appreciate what is the Fiat 500. I too would love to get my hands on an Abarth, but I HIGHLY doubt that it will make it to our shores, there just really isn't a market for them here, and what little market there is it's full of Yaris', Fits, and Versa's that already have a dedicated following and dedicated aftermarket support.

Saw one of the convertible %00's the other day driving with the top open and frankly it just look bizarre, regardless I still wouldn't mind taking one of the Matte black Sport editions out for a spin.

The Abarth will be here next year actually, they're pulling the trigger on them. They're supposed to bring over 2 more models next year too, one being the Punto I believe.

Pics taken in Flagler Beach, FL? I live 5 mins from there!

I think the 500 is such a neat looking car. Sounds like it might be ok with a manual trans...

Hahaha, what a turd of car. Seriously, it's ugly. Not to mention expensive.

If I'm going to spend 22K on a new car, it better be able to at least get out of its own way.

The one I priced out is the convertible. A standard 500 is $15k.

Not to much on the market right now that comes fully loaded with all the bells and whistles for less than $25K. I like them, and they are roomier than the Smart car and actually gets better MPG than the Smart car as well.

Yep I did a sales call at Sea Ray up the street and saw the ocean on my GPS. I was wearing a suit and shifing manually. So I'll paint the scene for you. Blue Fiat 500 comes up the beach drive in 2nd very near redline the motor does sound good. Parks, guy in a suit jumps out takes a few pictures with his phone. Jumps back in turns the car around. Jumps out takes a couple more pictures with his phone. Jumps in and trys! to spin the tires leaving the sand.

The problem is the traction control never gives you full power until about 10 mph. Its actually pretty quick from 20-50 mph. You can see in the automatic that 5th is overdrive and 6th is an even taller overdrive. At 100 mph your turning 5300rpm in 5th gear. With only 101hp it will not pull 6th.

Road and Track did a short review last month and this car holds performance record for all the cars they tested this year so far.

It took the Fiat 500 Sport the longest amount of time to go from 0-100 mph of any other car they tested, 36.2 seconds. It feels like an hour.

The G37S Sedan took 12.3 seconds to go 0-100mph, so if you ever find yourself in a race against a Fiat 500. Make it a fair race, accelerate to 100 mph. Then brake back down to 0, then accelerate to 100 mph again, it should be a pretty close race.

Disagree on the ugly though imo this is the best looking small car.

0-50 blackberry video is not great. BUT the motor sounds nice. It pulls pretty good in 2nd gear but holds back in 1st to prevent wheel spin. It has a sport button and a ESC button traction control can not be defeated with buttons. I would imagine pulling the ABS fuse would turn it off completely but I did not try it.
