Hello everybody. I've hung out in the Infiniti section for a couple of years. Yes, we do have fun there. :thumbup I am interested in how the members use their feet to manipulate the "floor controls" in cars equipped with automatic transmissions. How do the members use their feet?

Using your left foot for anything but stabilizing your body with the dead pedal is a bad habit.

BTW - I think the first and last choice are the same (?)...

So you vote no. 1? A? ;)

As to the second part of your response: there is a subtle difference.:icesangel

I guess my answer would then be 'D', but I voted 'A'...

i don't have an automatic but i think using your left foot on anything other than the dead pedal is a bad habit and annoying.i hate driving behind someone resting their foot on the brake...because often time the brake lights are on and it makes it hard to know when they are really breaking.

but as masterman said ....using left foot braking while drifting or driving hard...autox.... would make sense.

I voted the first choice since I have an automatic. My left foot does not remain on the dead pedal thought. I bend my left leg and rest my foot flat on the floor a lot...

I voted #1..I really dont use my left foot except for stabalizing myslef while cornering hard or when I used to power braking :naughty but I like my tires now..and my transmission and drivetrain and all those other fun, essential parts.

Also, I don't know about other Nissans, but the Q has an incredibly small footwell for such a big car (it's very crowded to the right). Since I have big feet, I often find my right foot will graze the brake pedal, so i always shuck my right shoe when i get in the car. Better control and less chance of getting both pedals with my clown feet.

I really want to have someone slice 3/4" off the right side of the brake pedal and re-weld it onto the left side (then I'll replace the brake pedal pad).

hmm i got a wicked active left foot in winter , coarse mines a 5 speed , but after the clutch is out i pulse the brake with my left foot to keep the wheels from spinning between this and being very gentle with the throttle i can hang with 4wds off the icy stoplights lights most of the time ...

in the trucks my right foot does all the work unless i get it stuck then the left foot goes back to tract controll duty

i understand completely AZ. wearing 13's over here. when in other cars i'm always doing sloppy feet work. hitting the brakes and gas at the same time and all that. japanese cars bunch the pedals together way to much. that's probably a good thing for toe heel driving...but how many people do that? go look at the pedals on a old buick. they're in two different area codes.

When I drive the wife's car, (automatic Altima) I tend to bend my left leg and place it on the floor mat. I use it to support my left arm while driving long distances. Fighter pilots use this method as well. Now if I can only stop trying to push in the clutch that doesn’t exist on this car!

HAHAHA... Yep, I did that for the first couple months in my Q too, since my prior 3 cars were 5-speed.

What was worse was trying to grab second gear at 7K and realizing those nice little Japanese people at Infiniti had it all taken care of!!!
