I put gas in the Q today... Premium was at $1.328/L :frown:

Doing the conversion to US gallons means I'm paying $5.03 CAD per gallon, which given today's exchange rate is about $5.18 USD per gallon. Thanks to my daily commute being purely city driving, I am averaging about 12 miles per gallon.

How are things south of the border for the owners of thirsty Q45s?
Is my mileage similar to what other G50 owners are getting?

Well, in my area (Seattle) I'm paying $3.90 + per gallon (around $3.79 CAD.) I'm doing primarily freeway driving and fortunately miss most traffic, and I'm averaging around 15-16mpg. I need to do my O2 sensors and knock sensors, as well as clean out my EGR port as it is completely clogged...

I think I paid about $3.70/gal or so last week in Tampa. I drive 60 miles a day in light highway traffic in the morning and horrible death gridlock coming home, but somehow, I'm still averaging 18.5 mpg. I'm not really sure how I'm accomplishing that. I'm 99% sure my 02 sensors are bad and I still need to change the oil, transmission and diff fluid.

Yeah, I drive about 60 miles a day too. I've got new synthetic transmission fluid, I'm running AMSOIL 10W30, but my mileage blows. I think it's my EGR system and knock sensors. When monitoring the data stream, the timing retards to -10 deg. or so when I rev it up, and it should be advancing to 20+ deg. That is a considerable power loss, requiring more throttle for less power. The EGR will also affect mileage, though not to the extent that timing will.

About the same price as previously reported for US premium prices. The Q gets about 3 mpg better mileage (both town and hwy) than the Honda Ridgeline.

I live in the most expensive areas in the US except for Hawaii and Alaska...today I paid $4.09 for REGULAR unleaded for my X-Terra. I don't know why but I just kept waiting and waiting to fill it up, finally the light light went on, so no choice. I went to the station that was cheapest in my area (let the Chevron versus corner station debate begin, Chevron was 4.25 for regular) and put in the CC and started filling it. The pump started to creep at $74.50---they cut off the pump at $75 bucks!!! I took 18 gallons and the X-Terra holds 22, I figured it still had another gallon it could have sucked up.

Oh, the Q, is my garage queen right now, the X-Terra at least drinks 87, I don't even want to think about what the Q is gonna pound me for when I fill it up.

These gas prices are really going to put a damper on the global economy again! Hell I spending up to $300 per week in gas. What the resale value of V8 cars, trucks and suvs tank again. A lot of people will end up doing voluntary repos just to lose their car notes. Some $2.00 per gallon gas would be a treat right now! :rotfl

At my current average rate of driving, I am using 100 gallons per month, if I traded the Q for a Prius and drove the exact same amount of miles, my usage would drop to 40 gallons total per month.........60 gallons saved at $4.00 per gallon would be $240 saved per month......roughly 1/2 of the new car payment.....take out the repair costs of the old Q and the net new payment would probably be under $100 per month for a brand new car under full factory warranty.......hmmmmm

I was recently running numbers for newwer more fuel efficient car vs. what I pay with the Q and I would be paying about the same each month, but I would not have the power that the Q has and also be driving a car that I do not truly own.

A used German diesel car is looking quite tempting though... as well as a diesel Delica for sale locally (which would keep me driving something out of the ordinary and Japanese :gapteeth: )

I think I just need to take the car for a carefree cruise down a highway (preferrably twisty) to remind myself about what drew me to the car in the first place ;)

Yes definately feeling the pinch to a point, it sucks how my Q requires Premium, but hey, that's what you get for luxury and performance :)

Hey RustyBucket, don't know if you'll see this but i live in Alberta, wish i lived in the Maritimes, great place to live that's for sure!

Yeah i can't reply to your message because i have participated enough yet.

During the last gas crisis I could get two weeks out of a tank the Ridge. Traveling to and from work is 12 miles a day. The Q gets better mileage in this suburban setting. I think I could get by on 10 gallons a week in the Q. I like the utility of a pickup type vehicle -- but they all seem to eat gas.

After my BG intake system cleaner treatment, I seem to be getting much better mileage - as in 2-3 miles better per gallon. I'll let you guys know when I refill and do the math. Still gotta do those KS's and EGR port, though...

I had to go to an ARCO today and pay cash to get 4.06 super for the Q. It is getting great gas mileage after trading into my PS Pilot Sports, maybe 1-2 more. $48 for 11 gallons, my gas gauge is now reading very conservative as I thought it needed more.....my chevron in Half Moon Bay is $4.35 for super!!!

Just an FYI - I did the heads on my sister's 05 Expedition last year. She used to use exclusively ARCO. :nono: While the heads were off, I scraped over 3 tablespoons per cylinder (!) of carbon buildup off of each piston face with a plastic scraper. :ohno: I have done heads on Chevron or Shell powered motors and seen nearly flawless piston faces.

Ask yourself this: At a 20 cents or so difference per gallon, translating to $2.00 per 10 gallons per fill-up, is it really worth the cheapo gas??? Clean engines are more fuel efficient and last longer.

After being read the riot act by me, :poke: she now uses Chevron, Shell, 76, or Texaco exclusively, and is getting better mileage than ever. :dblthumb: Top-tier gas is the only way to go.

Food for thought... :gotme

In western mass I payed 3.79$ a gallon for 93 octane the other day, fortunately i get a company vehicle 5 days a week so one fill up can last me almost a month at times. I have been filling up at the same shell station for probably 4 years now.

$5.00 per gallon gas is going to be a major treat!
