Feedback sound coming from passenger side on ex35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi

I posted about this problem months ago and i have been back and forth with both my dealership and infiniti canada. My dealership was very helpful, infiniti canada ignored me..lol

I discovered that the sound comes from the ECM (main computer) and that currently there is no fix other than to insulate around the ECM. They replaced my ecm and that did not do the trick. After replacing the ecm they insulated around the device and that worked for a period of time. However, the noise has returned. I know with these cars they have a tendency to cram everything into tiny spaces. I am wondering if the sound that i am hearing (and many others who have posted about this problem) is a feedback sound which results from there being too many components that require external signals next to the main computer. In many other systems that is often the case. I am going to take my car back in Jan 2010 and ask them to remove the nav system and see if they can hear the sound (which the techy hears and knows what i am talking about) and then remove the satellite radio component. Both of these systems require external signals to function which could be interfering the the ecm, and causing the feedback sound.

Also, i have noticed that if you stick a pillow under the glove box, the sound disappears, since that is where the ecm is located and other systems. This may be the only fix...lol

cheers and enjoy your ride

What does it sound like ? Just a feedback squeal ?

Is it loud ?

You're sure it's not coming out of the Sound System, right ?

It sounds like the problem discussed in this thread: zer...nyoneBut what you just said (about coming from the ECM and trying to insulate it) is the farthest that anyone's got with it.

Oh, sorry I never paid attention to that other thread... probably because, I don't have this problem.

Maybe the Moderator could merge these 2 Threads together.
