And personally, I think the whole thing is a big joke. We had so many girls in my unit in VA that were lesbians and everyone knew it. My best army friend was gay...They were all good military members.

Hey another fun fact...Did you know you can be a card carrying member of the KKK and similar groups in the Military? You can actively participate in these groups...and you can even protest the American Government...as long as you don't claim to represent the military.
I think this should apply to gays. You can be gay, as long as you don't speak for the military. I have a problem if you can't be openly gay but you can be a member of the KKK...how does that make any sense?

Great news! And, vikes, lots of folks point to that sort of thing as a reason that DADT should have stayed in place - because strife will be created between openly gay troops and troops that hate openly gay troops. But I've always said that if you've got a soldier who is one thing and another soldier chooses to make an issue out of it, how does it make sense to, as a rule, side with the soldier who can't get along with others?

Quick question, but doesnt being in those groups (Neo Nazi and KKK) prevent you from joining the military? Not sure what the rules are these days, it use to be the rule.

Because I found the arguments in favor of DADT to be a lot more convincing than the arguments in favor of DOMA. Admittedly, that isn't saying a lot.
