hey guys, i went drifting last night in my s14. so i need some new tires now because i roasted them good. right now i have 255/40/17 falken rt615's on a 17x9.5 +12. i want to run a harder tire because in one night i slaughtered my rt's. i want a clean stretch with the feddys, and i cant decide between a 215/45 or a 225/45. when i was at work i mounted a bunch of different brands and sizes too see how differently they stretched. here is what i found.

here is a 225/45/17 admiral

Personally i think stretching looks bad, why you want to stretch your tires?

Nicelype, stretching tires does not give any advantage over unstretched tires. All it really allows is for the car to go lower without rubbing. There is no performance gains IIRC. You actually only increase your risk of blowout and loss of control.

When you go into a turn, the weight of the car will want to flex the side wall and can promote understeer. Stretching tires negates that tire deformation. This isn't a thread about "stretching sucks", "stretching tires is lame", "only ricers stretch tire",so lets keep the trolling to a minimum.... please.

OP, how low is your car? Ever thought about a 40 series? It'll net more fender clearance if that's what you're looking for. Check out Tyrectretch.com They have a nice database for stretching tires.
