Versa sales hit an all-time high in February. 11,609 were sold. We almost beat the next three models combined for the month.

Now where are all these new owners?

Then how come every time I see a Nissan commercial, the Versa is always tucked away in the back. And it seems they never show a single shot of it, even for a second. I just feel like Nissan treats the Versa like it "allows" production to keep going on, it doesn't seem to be sinking the same resources into the Versa as other cars in their lineup. Is this because they are selling anyways, or is the Versa Nissan's dirty little secret?

Amen, brother!

I have been wondering that for months. Minimal love from all corners. I think we are starting to change the status quo around here.

You almost never see any car manufactures advertise the "low end" product. When was the last time you saw GM advertise the Chevy Aveo (which, after driven both, I can firmly say that the Versa is much better)? This is because there is more profit to be made in selling SUVs or larger sedans. Most of the marketing and sales, up until recently, for the low end cars went to fleet purchasers, such as rental car companies.

TomS,

There was a huge advertising push for the Yaris when Toyota released it. Billboards, flyers, commercials, and movie theater commercials, too. There was a 6 month period where I couldn't see a movie without seeing the Yaris.

Honda pushes the Fit hard, too.

I can't get excited when an automaker smashes sales records. The customers benefit squat, while the execs get their bonuses to pay for booze and hookers. The only peace of mind you get is that the automaker will be around (sorry, Pontiac/Saab).

You don't have to get jazzed up. I get jazzed up because I work for said company and it means I get to go to work tomorrow. But that also means that we have 11,000 more people to buy products and help grow the parts available for the Versa. 10 people wanting something vs. 1,000 people can make a difference in cost and response to requests for new parts.
