Man! Its been like 5 months since I've drove my 240. And finally, less than a week away I'll get my car back with my brand new engine. I'm pretty pumped up about it. I miss driving my car. Reason why I took so long is cause I was saving money for the car and parts. So next thursday I'll finally have it.

All I've done to it so far is a blitz blow off valve (came with engine) airnx intake (came with engine), tomei headgasket and timing belt, act street/strip clutch, and just bought an apexi n1 exhaust. I'll post some pics up whenever I get my car back. Cant wait....

I finally get to drive mine again soon, too. I've been waiting for some free time to fab the piping for a starion fmic, but I never seem to be in town long enough to work on it. On monday I just gave up and ordered a Greddy V-SPL FMIC, Enjuku hotpipe, blitz bov, and bov flange. I installed the FMIC tonight, the bov and flange should come in friday, I can get them welded on on saturday or monday, and I should be driving again next week. By the way, is it safe to drive without a BOV at stock boost? or will that cause excessive compressor surge?

My old Turbo Z31 lasted some 17 years w/o a bov, and at least 1.5 of those years was running 4lbs over factory boost at 10psi. I eventually did get a BOV for it, but then wrecked it. Pulled the motor out and checked the turbo. 16 years, 7-10psi, 156K miles, no play in the shaft, no leaking oil and it still spins freely. So in short, yes, your turbo will survive for the short time you are without.

You can survive without a BOV. Just don't turn up the boost much if any. I wouldn't dream of going over 10lbs without a BOV.

ok, sounds good. on a surge related side note, yesterday i worked on a large (8" diameter inlet/outlet, 24" diameter impellers) industrial multistage centrifugal blower that crashed during a hard surge. the piping at this plant isn't big enough, so the blower started surging, and noone shut it down. it shook so hard it screwed out four 1/2"x1 1/4" bolts that run into the casing, and shattered the lockwashers on all of them. it also smashed the impellers (aluminum) into the casing (cast iron) at 3600rpm; i found aluminum dust everywhere. That's why I'm nervous about surging my turbo :)
