Yeah, I think I would suffer a similar fate. It can be a handful to keep traction on a straight road with that thing, let alone a drift session. Meh, I hate those factory Goodyears on it, anyway.

I wish we had something like that closer to tennessee. I know there people who were talking bout getting some events in atlanta. I'd so drive to atlanta for something like that.We have a super speedway in my town and thats were we have our autocross meets. I don't know if they would let us do a drifting event or not. I do wish I had a legal place to practice. Honestly i don't care for drifting on the streets but it's all I have.

If they do autocross, just get a bunch of people...3 or 4 guys started DG Trials, so it doesn't take alot of people...and just ask. Show the owners that a drift event can make them alot of money, and they'll be more than happy to give you a spare lot for a night. go to http://www.dgtrials.com and talk to those guys about what they did. Whatever it was that they did, it was the right thing and a very good thing.

I love to drift. You have to find a safe place though. I have found a few safe places, but no legal places yet. Drifting in residential areas might sound like fun, but hitting someone would certainly not be fun!

Good thing about the 240s is that they are so predictable that when they are ready to break loose you can feel it. It takes practice to get really good though. I'm afraid that I'll break something sometimes, but I only do it when I'm confident that I won't hit anything.

In my opinion the ultimate goal of drifting is to learn to control, that which is out of control. In theory this will help with driving at the track and on the street. If you can handle your car in a full slide with control and confidence then that's a major plus.

Me: 3am in deserted urban location. I come flying around an uphill hairpin, very much crossed up and halfway on the other side of the road, enjoying it very much.

Cop: Just happens to be driving down from the top of the hill. Turns on the blue and reds. She says "Have you been drinking?"

Me: "No."

Cop: "So you're just stupid then?"

So I basically promised that she'd never see me again, and was let off!

Moral is : Either do it legally or find some bloody big and wide roads or truckstops somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. I don't get off on thrashing because it's illegal or because I'm standing up to "the man", just because it's fun.:ylsuper

I got pulled over once in my 240. Didn't get a ticket and the cop wa SOOO HOT. I've told this story on this board about a dozen times so I won't go into it, but this lady cop was really good looking.

yeah, it's kinda hard to find a spot, some people recomended the same type of locations that are used for street racing, abandoned industrial areas real late/early morning. it sucks because drifting hasn't really caught on here in TX, at least in dfw, and 1 drift event 4 hours away once a month isn't gonna cut it, at least not if you want to impove. it obviously takes a lot of practice, and once a month isn't enough.

if there were three or more people in this area that wanted to drift, hit me up! no one knows or cares what it is really here, seeing it as another ricer thing that must be prevented at all costs. My best advice for not breaking **** is to go to these warehouses and stuff late and use there parking lot if it's empty and big enough. that's what I'm doing, and once I get better, I'm gonna try the streets around there. But there definitely needs to be more events, but unfortunately it seems like I'm the only one interested here (other than my friends who want to see me wreck...)

kami..don't forget you can also use the R200V lsd from a non turbo 300z. That's what I did, I just had to change the flanges so the bolt patterns would match up. You'd be surprised how easy it is to find one compared to a 240sx lsd. I think someone had one up for sale on the 240sx.org classifieds for around $300 w/ half shafts.

hehe, I just got back from drifting, only 10-15min. at most, but it's an abandoned parking lot next to my house, just practiced a couple of u turns. and I'm running an open diff., and have had no problems getting the car to drift, so I'm wondering how much difference an lsd would make. it almost sounds like it would be harder to drift.
