feals laggy around 5500+

hey guys im looking into buyign a 92 coupe with sr20 swap.. its got its little issues and problems but there is one that i dont know how serious it is.. in first gear the car pulls hard threw all rpms.. then in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th the car lags and it feals like the car is not pulling hard any more.. but this is only after 5500 rpm.. just wondering what this could be if anyone has an idea please be free to help out. thankss
