Well, here I am, sitting all alone, the board's a little dead and I can't get on AIM. I'm having a slight stooper of depression and realizing that my life is coming crashing down sort of. Heh, it's all in good fun though. This is right before things get either really really good or just worse. Usually it's the latter, but lately I've been having a lucky streak... so we'll see. It probably isn't helping that I'm listening to Ben Folds Five... that just makes things much worse. Oh look "Evaporated" has just come on... here's a little tid bit of what it says.

Evaporated -Ben Folds Five

What I've kept with meand what I've thrown awayand where the hell i've ended up on this glaring random daywith the things I really cared about just left along the wayfor being to pent up and prone

woke up way too latefeeling hung over and coldand the sun is shining bright and I walk barefoot down the roadStarted thinking about my odl manit seems that all men want to get into their car and goanywhere....

chorusHere I stand, sad and freeI can't cry and I can't seeWhat i've doneNo God what have I done

Don't you know that I'm numb and I can't feel a thing at allCuase it's all smiles and business these days and I'm indiferent to the lossfaith that there's a soul somewhere leading me aroundI wonder if she knows which way i sit down

chorusAnd i poured my heart outAnd I poured my heart outIt evaporated, see...

Blind man on a canyon's edge on a panoramic sceneMaybe I'm a kite that's flying high and random dangling on a stringSlumped over in a vacant room head on stranger's kneeI'm sure back home they think I've lost my mind

Here i stand, sad and freeI can't cry and I can't seeWhat I've doneNo god what have I done?

STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO LYRICS

"Point / Counterpoint"

I've got a gun in my hand but that gun won't cockMy finger's on the trigger but that trigger seems lockedand I can't stop staring at the tick tock clockand even if I could I would never give up.With a vest on my chest, a bullet in my lungI can't believe I'm dying with my song unsung. If and when I die won't you bury me alone?'Cause I'll never get to heaven if I'm singing this song.

If there was something wrong would you be oh so strong?Would you do what it takes to move this hollow life along?I'd like to think I would, you know I'd like to think I wouldbut I guarantee that what you see is not realityand every time I make a point, she makes a counterpointShe said it's easy but in the end you'll have no choiceand you know that's only just the way it goesYou said it right man, That is just the way it goes

And the days, and the days they seem like foreverAnd the days, and the days they seem like foreverBut forever isn't ever enough!!I'd like to sing a songPlease swear you won't be long!I'll try not to be long but I don't want to get this story wrongThere was a kid who never cared about the little thingsDon't even bother because I'm tired and I'm sick of itAnd every time she makes a point I'll make a counterpoint! She said It's easy but in the end you'll have no choiceAnd you know that's only just the way it goesYou said it right man, that is just the way it goes

Oh, You don't know where I've been!Oh, You don't know what I've seen!

If I did something rightWould you give up this fight?Would you say you were wrong and maybe someone else was kind of rightI'd like to think you wouldYou know I'd like to think you wouldbut I can't guarantee that what you get is an apologyJump back to the day we metI never thought that it would end this wayIf ever I let you down I want to ask of youTo take it down a notch and we can talk it on through

Oh, You don't know where I've been!Oh, You don't know what I've seen!

So tell me friend, How's it going to end? When the s*** goes down and there's no one left Around to get your backYou'll crackYou'll smile and agree with everything they sayThey'll try to tell you that it's all okayBut it's not and you're shot and you're bleeding pretty badand You can't stop thinking about the things you never hadLike a wife and a kid and the things you never didYou're running aroundYou're living a life that's empty in the end, my friend

No, You'll take back all you've saidOh, When the regrets fill your head

Trust me I've been there beforeI would not wish it upon my greatest enemyWhat Irony!Once friends, but I findYou'll have to learn this lesson on your own

So I waited by the phone but that phone never rangand I sang so loud so I wouldn't hear the bangWhen the bang never came and I never got the f*** You! Thank You! I Love You All!Some are going to say that we're doomed to repeatall our past mistakesGreat! But that's not meand even if it was I would always disagreeBecause in the end I always get the better of me

Oh, I'll take you where I've been!Oh, I'll show you what I've seen!

Man, now THATS a sad song! One I definitely dont want to listen to when I'm drunk and depressed.

MECPInstaller: I have a bizarre nap-wake-nap-wake sleep pattern. Seems the only thing to do here in West County late at night is go to Steak 'n' Shake on Olive or White Castle. Or go to the Town & Country Wal-Mart and buy ice cream sandwiches and play PS2.

Yeah, I pretty much can NOT listen to Whiskey Lullaby without crying and wanting alcohol (it doesn't help that I'm a newly single loser).

I'm surprised no one mentioned the classic George Thorogood songs, "I drink alone" and "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer".

^^Only problem with the last three songs above is they're not exactly depressing... then again I'm one for good tunes and good times when I consume alcoholic beverages. But if I had to pick a depressing song it has to be, "Landslide by Fleetwood Mac".If used improperly it can induse self-destructive thoughts and over-active emotions.

Lucky that I don't drink, otherwise I would've been dead a long time ago.

Fire & Rain - James Taylor

Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone. Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you. I walked out this mornin', and I wrote down this song; I just can't remember who to send it to. I've seen fire, and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end. I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, But I always thought that I'd see you again.

Won't you look down upon me Jesus? You gotta help me make a stand. You just got to see me through another day. My body's achin', and my time is at hand. I won't make it any other way.

[repeat chorus]

Been walkin' my mind to an easy time, My back turned towards the sun. Lord knows when the cold wind blows, it'll turn your head around.

Well there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come: Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

[repeat chorus]

Cat's in the Cradle - Harry Chapin

Cat's in the Cradle by Sandy & Harry Chapin

My child arrived just the other day,He came to the world in the usual way.But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.He learned to walk while I was away. And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew,He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, dad.You know I'm gonna be like you."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,Little boy blue and the man in the moon."When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,But we'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."

My son turned ten just the other day.He said, "Thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play. Can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today,I got a lot to do." He said, "That's ok."And he walked away, but his smile never dimmmed,Said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah. You know I'm gonna be like him."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,Little boy blue and the man in the moon. "When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,But we'll get together then. You know we'll have a good time then."

Well, he came from college just the other day,So much like a man I just had to say,"Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while?"He shook his head, and he said with a smile,"What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.See you later. Can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,Little boy blue and the man in the moon."When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,But we'll get together then, dad.You know we'll have a good time then."

I've long since retired and my son's moved away.I called him up just the other day.I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind."He said, "I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time. You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu,But it's sure nice talking to you, dad. It's been sure nice talking to you."And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me,He'd grown up just like me.My boy was just like me.

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,Little boy blue and the man in the moon."When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,But we'll get together then, dad.You know we'll have a good time then."
