Bounce "Mountain Air" fabirc softner under the mats in the car and in the trunk. Made the gas smell from the fuel pump R&R go away in less than a day.

EDIT: Oh, yea MUCH cheaper :pface

Best way to get a new car smell, is to use Meguiar's leather conditioner on the seats. It smells sooo nice! And you can protect your leather all at the same time. Lexol saddle conditioner of course works a little better and costs more but it smells like... horses.

For upholstery odors, power wash the mats at the car wash and go over other spots with Folex.

I like vanilla too.

p.s. Forget the Lexol AND the Meguiar's - Check out Zaino's leather conditioner - Smells fantastic, and works better than BOTH of those other products - I love this stuff!

They do sell the new car scent air freshener, its reall strong so be careful, I use a ceramic/clay container that is small and hangs from the mirror or wherever you want it, its filled with lavender oil that soaks into the ceramic and smells great and looks good, you can get them at any crafts store, another favorite is green apple trees stuffed into the lower vents.

If you follow the directions on the package, the air fresheners are really nice.....

You cut away a little bit of the package every week....... So it doesnt make your eyes water when you get in the car for the first week, ok by the second week, and you cant smell it after the 3rd........

Didn't the Q originally have an airfreshener that mounted under the front seats?

For a Q a replacement would really have that "new car" smell, factory approved even.

BTW:Here's a nice article on the perfect new car smellhttp://education.llnl.gov/msds....html

I ordered one of the units and installed it... it is a unique smell, but very subtle. Don't really notice it. Wouldn't bother ordering it again.....

Little Tree Vanillaroma is my favor flav. I've tried them all, Mixed Berry isn't bad but hard to find. Royal Pine was #1 until I got so sick of it, I almost puked. Be careful where you put them though. I had it hanging off my center counsel of my 1986 Jetta and it totally discolored the panel. I tried to clean it off but the sun totally baked it on there. My only complaint.

My favorite scent is clean... a good steam cleaning and not leaving a lot of burger wrappers and old socks in the back seat goes a long way toward not even needing airfresheners.

Have to agree with that. A clean car never smells.

One of my worst Q45 experiences was with my wife's uncle car when his wife hung one of those pine trees down by the passenger foot well air supply. Awful couldn't stop sneezing and in the way of my foot.

Always wondered what those Playboy® rabbit head ones smelled like. Bunny?:D

Im a big fan of the Yankee candle company air freshener. I currently have coconut in my car. Smells damn good. Their vanilla is super good too.

The 1990 has a small grill on the front bottom of the driver's seat. If you reach under and behind it you can push out a small compartment that contains a felt block. It soaks up a usable quantity of any liquid scent. I think it's the perfect touch for what Infiniti was trying to do at the beginning.

I think I sprayed that felt block with Nautica once... seemed to work for a week or two. The cover had never been removed on "Q2" so it still had a good bit of smell in it at first. Like everyone said - really subtle.

I just pour in my vanilla scent juice until the felt block is good and soaked, it usually works for about a month. I think rescenting the block was part of the car wash, etc that the dealer did every time you brought the car in for service.
