Hi All,

My car was jerking when pressing the gas pedal (too much oxygen) and I found the problem to be the Mass Air Flow sensor after doing some research.

Anyways, I ordered the part from eBay ($25) and the car does not jerk. However, when idling (when first starting the car, or when I am at a redlight) it keeps jerking even when I am not pressing the gas. Sometimes it even shuts off completely if the RPMs reach a very low level. It seems to happen more often in the cold.

Now, I've talked to the seller to see if sensor is defective and he claimed on Nissan/Infiniti in particular, the adaptations must be reset/cleared first since the ECM is use to the older sensor. He said it is different from simply clearing/reseting codes.

I've replaced the sensor on an Infiniti qx4 I previously had and never had to clear/reset adaptations and dont want to shell out the $$ at the dealership for something I don't need.

Any ideas? Should I get another sensor?

Thanks!

What were the OBDII codes before you replaced the MAF? What are the codes after?

Reading the OBDII codes is key here... Your local auto parts store can scan the codes for free if you don't have a scanner.

Also, are you sure you got the right MAF (part#) for your car?

P0102, I know for a fact that it was MAF because I even cleaned mine up and it started working well for 1-2 days.

You may have received a faulty MAF sensor. Can you exchange it?
